- Serve the slow cooker Philly Cheesesteak on a hoagie bun, not a hamburger or hot dog bun.
- Butter the inside of the bun and toast it before adding the meat. This adds some nice flavor and will help keep the hoagie roll from getting soggy.
Then enjoy! Although this slow cooker Philly Cheesesteak may not be as authentic as what you will get in Philadelphia it is pretty yummy and a great substitution for the real thing.

Feel free to add them to the slow cooker if you like them softer. I would add them the last hour or two of the cooking time. They will add even more flavor to the sandwich.

This is the kind of slow cooker I use, in fact I own three of them!
What kind of cheese do you use on a Slow Cooker Philly CheeseSteak Sandwich?
Traditionally it is usually Cheez Whiz or provolone. The traditional consensus says either Cheez Whiz or provolone. We prefer provolone but you might want to try Cheez Whiz or even American cheese is popular with some people.
