This spinach salad is a combination of bacon, strawberries, cheese, hazelnuts and a delicious warm bacon dressing. The perfect salad for any meal.
Everything is better with bacon, right? Adding bacon to this Strawberry Spinach Salad adds a little crunch and the perfect flavor. The dressing is infused with the bacon drippings and then crisp bacon is sprinkled on top for added crunch and flavor.
How to Make Warm Bacon Vinaigrette
- Cook bacon until crisp and then crumble.
- Remove 2 Tbsp of drippings and combine with diced shallot, mustard, vinegar, water and sugar.
- Stir and heat through.
Instructions
- Place baby spinach in a bowl.
- Drizzle with warm bacon dressing and toss.
- Add in strawberries, hazelnuts, bacon and cheese and toss again to incorporate.
- Serve immediately.

Salad Substitutions
Strawberries. Use another kind of berry or apples or pears would be lovely.
Hazelnuts. Use whatever you have on hand. I love to add Candied pecans for a change.
Cheese. The recipe uses Gorgonzola but you could use feta or even some grated Swiss cheese.

Ingredients
Salad
- 1 lb. baby spinach
- 1/2 cup hazelnuts chopped
- 1 cup strawberries sliced
- 4 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup Gorgonzola cheese
Warm Bacon Dressing
- 2 Tbsp bacon drippings
- 1 shallot diced
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 3 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp sugar
Instructions
Warm Bacon Dressing
- Cook bacon until crisp and the crumble.
- Reserve 2 Tbsp of drippings.
- Add in shallot, mustard, vinegar, water and sugar.
- Stir and heat through.
- Pour dressing over spinach and toss to coat.
- Add in nuts, bacon strawberries and cheese
