Instant Pot Turkey Chili is the perfect dinner solution to a cold winter’s night. It can also be made with ground beef.
It’s been a cold, rainy winter here in Portland, Oregon and a bowl of warm, rich chili is the perfect way to warm up. I also love the way making instant pot turkey chili makes my house smell! I had a repair person stop by while I was making this and the first thing she said when she walked in was how good it smelled! The best part, Instant Pot Turkey Chili couldn’t be easier. You need about 10 minutes of prep time and then 30 minutes later you have dinner!
Instant Pot Turkey Chili is also a great choice for the big game day. Put out all the different toppings and let your guests put together their own fun combinations of turkey chili.
How to make Instant Pot chili
Use the sauté feature on your Instant Pot to sauté the onions and peppers and brown the ground turkey.
If you prefer, you can also use ground chicken or ground beef instead of ground turkey, they will all work.
I use crushed tomatoes along with some tomato paste for thickening as well as chicken broth. I like to give my Instant Pot Chili Turkey a little southwestern flair and use diced green chilies, jalapeño peppers, black beans and Chipotle chili powder. This recipe has a bit of a kick to it so if you prefer it milder just decrease your chili powder by about half. If you like it with more of a kick, just add more!
Use the chili/beans setting on your Instant Pot and cook for 18 minutes and then do a 10 minute natural release.
What do I top my chili with?
For me, the best part of the chili is what you put on top!
Some of our favorite Instant Pot turkey chili toppings are:
- grated cheddar or jack cheese
- sour cream
- green onions
- slice of lime
- fritos or tortilla chips for some crunch
- sprinkle of cilantro
- squeeze of fresh lime
Just use your imagination!
What Instant Pot do you use?
I use a 6 qt. Instant Pot which is the brand name. It is also available in an 8 qt. but I have found the 6 qt. to be plenty big.
Serve one of these with your Instant Pot Turkey Chili:
