Beef Gyros in the Instant Pot or Slow Cooker

A delicious Beef Gyro made in the Instant Pot or the slow cooker is a delicious and easy weeknight dinner idea.

Beef Gyro

I’m going to be teaching a class on the Instant Pot for our women’s group at church this week so I’ve been playing with my Instant Pot quite a bit lately. One of the other experiments was this delicious, tender beef I used for beef gyros. Don’t worry if you don’t have an Instant Pot though, you can make this gyro recipe in your slow cooker too!

flank steak in an instant potGyro meat is traditionally cooked on a rotisserie, but since I don’t have one I figured out a delicious beef gyro recipe that I can make in my Instant Pot.  I used flank steak, but you can use any kind of beef roast to make your beef gyro.  One of the benefits of an Instant Pot is you can use tougher pieces of meat and it makes them very tender.  I sliced up the roast so that the slices were about 1/4″ thick.  If you use flank steak, make sure to cut the meat across the grain.

Slow Cooker Beef GyroGyro Recipe

This meat is flavored with garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, parsley and lemon juice.  The meat has lots of delicious flavor.  I like to serve it with tzatziki sauce and naan bread.  My favorite naan bread is this homemade version but you can also buy it frozen at Trader Joes!  I added chopped tomato, red onion and cucumber on top along with the tzatziki sauce too.

I used the meat/stew button on the Instant Pot so the meat cooked for about 30 minutes after coming to pressure.  And I used a natural release.  So the total cook time was almost an hour. If you are making it in the slow cooker you will be cooking it on high for 3 1/2 – 4 hours or low for 6-7 hours.

My favorite kitchen items I used to make SLOW COOKER BEEF GYROS:

SLOW COOKER – My favorite one is the classic, the Rival CrockPot.  In fact, I love it so much I own three of them.  Two 6 qt and one 4 qt.

CROCK POT LINER BAGS – These liner bags are a life saver and make clean up so much easier and faster!  Stock up on them!

SHREDDER CLAWS – These make shredded pork or chicken a breeze!

Hi! I will try this this week in my slow cooker. I never know what type of roast to buy. I see flank steak is an option but what cut of beef roast do you recommend? Thank you!

If you do it in the slow cooker, how long do you cook the beef? Looks yummy!
