Bacon in the Oven is the easiest way to get perfect bacon every time.  Cooking bacon in the oven creates bacon that is perfectly and evenly crisp every time and there is less mess!

Isn’t everything better with bacon?  Some of our favorite ways to use this perfectly cooked bacon is in Chicken Pasta Salad, Caramelized Onion and Bacon Green Beans and even in cookies!  These Elvis Cookies are so fun.  For a sweeter version of bacon check out our family’s favorite Brown Sugar Bacon.

Best Way to Cook Bacon

For years, I cooked my bacon in a frying pan on the stove top.  It works fine but I usually ended up with bacon grease all over my stove top and nearby counter top.  Recently, I started baking it in the oven and it’s been life changing!  I discovered that bacon cooks more evenly in the oven too and creates the perfectly crisp bacon I love and there is no mess.

How to Cook Bacon in the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Place your bacon in a single layer on a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet with a rim (this is important so the grease doesn’t run off)

  • Cook the bacon for 15-18 minutes or until it is as crispy as you like it.

  • Remove the pan from the oven when the bacon is just how you like it, remove the bacon from the pan and place on paper towels to absorb excess grease.
  • Drain off grease and throw the parchment paper away!  Easy cleanup.

Reasons for Cooking Bacon in the Oven

Less Mess.  When I use parchment paper on my baking sheet all I have to do is throw away the paper.  If I use a big enough sheet of paper I don’t get any grease on my baking sheet!

Big Batch.  I can cook more bacon at one time in the oven.  Just load up your baking sheet with as much as will fit.  The bacon should be in a single layer but the edges can touch because it will shrink up as it cooks.  I have done more than one pan of bacon at a time in my oven.

Cooks Evenly.  Bacon cooks more evenly and crispier in the oven than the stove top.

Get More Done.  While the bacon cooks, you don’t have to tend it, turning and making sure it doesn’t cook more on one side than the other.
