Oatmeal Waffles made with whole wheat flour are a great way to start the day off with a delicious and healthy breakfast.
I am on a continuous quest to integrate more whole grains into my family’s diet. From that desire, these delicious, healthy and filling oatmeal waffles were created! We have been enjoying these yummy whole wheat and oatmeal waffles at our house for breakfast and dinner.
Remember my oatmeal pancake recipe? My family loved them and they were the inspiration for these oatmeal waffles. We enjoy our oatmeal waffles with real maple syrup and strawberries, but they are also yummy with butter, jam, or your favorite waffle topping.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I freeze these waffles?
Yes, I love to make them for dinner and double the batch so we have leftover waffles to freeze for busy mornings. Just let them cool before you put them in an airtight container. Then pop them into the toaster when you are ready to enjoy them.
What waffle iron do you use?
I think these waffles are at their best when cooked in a Belgian waffle maker. A Belgian waffle maker is deeper and you get a crisper waffle.
Made exclusively with whole wheat flour and old fashioned oatmeal, you might expect a heavy and dense waffle. But this recipe makes nice crisp and light waffles.

These are great and very filling. I followed your directions, using honey instead of sugar, but I added 1 tsp. maple flavoring. Cooked these on my waffle iron for 2 minutes and 22 seconds, medium heat and they were exceptional! Hubby, who isn’t fond of things that are good for him, like wheat flour and oatmeal, really liked these even after I told him they have oatmeal in them.

These were yummy but the batter was a little runny. I’m going to use a little less liquid next time.

I loved checking out Cali’s blog! She will have a wonderful adventure. My granddaughter Jordan did BYU study abroad in London last summer and was able to go to so many plays, concerts, etc. There was even an unexpected weekend in Paris with several girls.
My Dad taught at the BYU London location years ago and I was able to visit him there, on my first trip to London. It was special to know that Jordan was staying at the very same location.

You are one busy woman!!!! What a fun month for you. It’s fun to see the picture of you and Kris and Kim. I know they say they aren’t related to the Osmonds but I really think they have to be related to Olive Osmond somehow, somewhere….long, long ago perhaps. Betcha!
I checked out Cali’s new blog. She’s so cute. Love how she writes! I can tell she is going to have so much fun there. I’ll be following her on her blog.

i have an odd question, you wear a lot of navy, do you have a hard time finding shoes? i can never find something to go with navy! i commented on your college post how much i love your clothes!

I do wear navy – I recently discovered that I should not wear black so I have switched to navy and brown. I have a friend who is a stylist and she did my colors and informed me of that! I have a closet full of black!
Navy shoes are impossible to find – I have tried. I really like wearing colored shoes so instead of navy I shoes I wear burgundy, gray, silver and even yellow with navy outfits. My daughter is starting a fashion blog and maybe I’ll do a few fashion posts over there!
