Frequently Asked Questions
Keep any leftover Oreo truffles in an airtight container in the fridge.
Yes, I have made them with mint oreos, Golden oreos, birthday cake oreos. You can use any flavor Oreo that is your favorite.
You can but your mixture will be more difficult to work with as it will be softer. I prefer a full fat cream cheese.
You can use white chocolate chips, milk chocolate, semi- sweet chocolate or dark chocolate. Just be ware that white chocolate burns quicker than other chocolates.
Tips for Making White Chocolate Oreo Cookie Balls
- Do not make your oreo truffle balls too big. Although it make seem small, once inch is plenty big as they will be bigger once you dip them in chocolate and add sprinkles. They will be the perfect size for popping in your mouth.
- Use any flavor of chocolate coating you like. I prefer the Wilton melts because they melt easily and quickly without burning. If you prefer to use real chocolate just watch it carefully as it melts, if using the microwave do it in 30 second intervals. You may need to add a bit of vegetable oil to real chocolate to get it a smooth enough dipping consistency.
- I recommend using regular Oreos and not the double stuffed as the extra cream makes them to greasy and difficult to form into balls.
Troubleshooting Oreo Truffle Balls:
- Dipping chocolate is too thick: Add a small amount of vegetable oil or canola oil to it to get it a smoother consistency.
- Chocolate hardens before you are done dipping: Just rewarm the chocolate in the microwave or on the stove top.
- Oreo Cookie ball falls apart when dipping: Return the balls to the freezer and let them chill longer.
How Long Will Oreo Cookie Balls last?
You can store them in an airtight container the fridge for 3-4 days and you can also freeze them for up to four months. Thaw them in the refrigerator before serving or allow to set at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
