This easy Strawberry Salsa recipe is the perfect combo of sweet and savory and a favorite summer appetizer. Serve it on top of your favorite protein or just add chips! Made with fresh strawberries, red onion, cilantro and a bit of jalapeno for a little heat.
Why You’ll Love this Recipe!
Fresh and Delicious! Strawberry Salsa is the perfect combination of sweet and savory. The natural sweetness of the strawberries paired with some red onion, jalapeno pepper and cilantro is perfect. Add in some white balsamic vinegar for even more flavor.
Customizable. I like using the white balsamic vinegar because it keeps the strawberries bright and red. White balsamic vinegar should be available at your local grocery store, but if you can’t find it, use regular balsamic vinegar. It will make the strawberry salsa a little darker, but gives you the same great flavor.
Ingredients Needed
- Fresh Strawberries. You could also use a combination of your favorite fresh berries.
- Red Onion
- Jalapeño Pepper
- Fresh Cilantro
- Lime, zest and juice
- White Balsamic Vinegar. If you use a dark balsamic it will just darken the berries but the flavor will be great.
- Salt and Pepper
- Sugar or Honey

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will strawberry salsa last?
Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator leftovers will last for up to two days depending on how ripe your strawberries are.
Can I use frozen strawberries?
No! Frozen strawberries have too much moisture in them and just don’t work for this recipe. Save them for something else.
Can I make strawberry salsa ahead of time?
I think it is best served within 1-2 hours of assembling it. You can chop and prep your ingredients except for the strawberries the day before. As strawberries sit they soften and release juices so wait to slice those.
