A Spooky Halloween Dinner Party is a fun and delicious way to celebrate.
Some other fun parties we have hosted are this Mad Scientist Dinner Party and a Couples Halloween Dinner Party. This Let Them Eat Cake Party is one of my favorites!
Since becoming empty nesters and beginning our yearly couples costume tradition, I’ve thought it would be fun to have an adult costume Halloween dinner party.
Since our family room is under renovation it was easy to set up the room for the dinner party. We had 16 guests and I wanted everyone to be at the same table so I used 3 folding tables to create one big square table. I placed two tables were parallel and then a placed one table across the end of the two.

I went with a black and white theme and I used decor I already had. I did pick up some black and white tapers and glass candle holders from the dollar store. The cute little tombstones came from the dollar bin at Target.
My flowers were a couple of different bouquets from Trader Joes that I put together in an old vintage coffee urn that I just happen to have laying around. Doesn’t everyone have a vintage coffee urn laying around!?
It was an assigned potluck dinner so the food was easy. I made my mummy wrapped brie, and there was my favorite artichoke dip, and some stuffed mushrooms for appetizers.
Dinner was Chicken Breasts Supreme, Cashew Nut Rice, Roasted Veggies, Artisan Breads and a delicious Autumn Apple Salad. Dessert was one of my favorite fall desserts and the friend who gave me the recipe brought it. This Apple Pudding Cake is so good!
Draping gauzy fabric everywhere is the perfect and easy way to decorate!
You can put the gauze over the top of your lamps, in your windows and on the mantle. I found the fabric at my local fabric store.
I also picked up some white sheets at Goodwill and draped them over the furniture for a haunted house look!
It was a fun night with good friends, good food and good conversation which is always a perfect combination!
Here is everyone in their fun costumes!
Pigs in a Blanket| Cavalier and his Fair Maiden (she made her costume!!) |Vampire and Dorothy| Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie| Kevin and Russell from Up| Witch and Darth Maul | Bonnie and Clyde| Flapper Girl and Gangster

Funny timing…we had a real potluck this afternoon. We do this every other month or so. Never know who is really going to show up (though we do say rsvp). The fun to me is seeing what everyone brings – sometimes dishes I’ve never heard of – and no one ever goes home hungry!

Sonja, Sounds like a fun time! I have gotten some of my favorite recipes from potlucks.

Donna, You are so sweet. We are making the best of being empty nesters and I think teaching Sunbeams definitely qualifies as wild and crazy!!!

That is one heck of a party. You taught me a phrase that is how I aspire to party plan. Assigned potluck. Genius. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and recipes. I always enjoy them and have made several since I started following you.

Suzanne, I am a little too much of a control freak for a full on potluck! Thanks for following along.
