This Raspberry Chipotle Sauce has a little sweet from the raspberries and just a little heat from the chilies. It is perfect served with chicken or fish and over cream cheese with crackers.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe!
If you are looking to change up your basic BBQ sauce this raspberry chipotle BBQ sauce is it! It has the perfect combination of sweet and heat. You can control the amount of heat by how much chipotle chilis you add in. I like just a little heat so use just the sauce. If you want more heat, add in some of the actual chilies.
Ingredients Needed
- Olive Oil
- Onion, white or yellow.
- Adobo Sauce. Use canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce but just use the sauce. Add in chopped chili peppers for more heat
- Serrano Chili Pepper. Remove the seeds. You could also use jalapeno peppers.
- Red Raspberries
- Sugar
- Apple Cider Vinegar
How to Make Raspberry Chipotle Sauce
- Heat olive oil in pan and saute garlic until onions are soft, about 8 minutes.
- Add in diced serrano peppers and cook until tender.
- Mix in adobo sauce and raspberries and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour in vinegar, salt and sugars.
- Bring mixture to a boil and then simmer until thickened and it reduces to about half.
- Cool sauce before serving.
Tips from leigh Anne
- If you prefer it less spicy, don’t add in as much adobo sauce and leave out the serrano pepper. For more heat, add in more sauce and some of the chopped chilies from the sauce.
- Want it sweeter? Add in some more sugar. You can also substitute with honey if you prefer.
- If your sauce gets to thick, thin it out with a splash or two of water.

Can this sauce be preserved by canning?
Leigh Anne Wilkes says
I have never done but I am sure it could. I would check with an extension service to see how long to can it for.

Can you use tropical fruit…?
Would this pair with fried sticky rice mango balls…!
Leigh Anne Wilkes says
I have only made it with raspberries but other fruit should work.

I found this recipe because I was looking for a sauce to pair with Amylu Cranberry Jalapeño Chicken Meatballs I just bought at Costco. I looked for a recipe on the Amylu website & they recommended using a raspberry chipotle sauce. At first, I thought I’d just buy the sauce at the store but couldn’t find it anywhere. Luckily, I found this recipe online. This sauce did not disappoint – it was exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you Mystee! I also bought those meatballs from Costco!!!
Jennifer says
What do you think about using frozen berries and/or a mix of other berries instead of fresh raspberries?
Leigh Anne says
I think either word work great – just drain the berries if using frozen. Enjoy!
Donna says
Delicious, but not nearly as thick or spicy as I’d hoped.
I use sauce on turkey burgers as condiment with mayo and dijon mustard. The two are the most complimentary to each other (mustard & rasp.).
I love these combined…!
