Caramel Rice Krispie Treats takes your favorite treat to a new level with a layer of caramel and a chocolate drizzle to make them extra special.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe!
Delicious! I love a good Rice Krispie treat. These caramel rice krispie treats are soft, gooey, and delicious. There is a layer of caramel and a chocolate drizzle that take these over the top.
Quick and Easy. They come together in minutes quickly and this recipe is a fun way to dress up a classic treat.
Ingredients Needed
- Marshmallows, large or mini
- Butter, salted
- Rice Krispie cereal (crispy rice cereal)
- Kraft Caramel Bits
- Chocolate Chips. I use semi sweet chocolate chips but also use milk chocolate chips.
How to Make Caramel Rice Krispie Treats
- Melt large marshmallows and butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Alternatively you can use the microwave on high for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.
- Mix the marshmallow and butter together until it is smooth and melted.
- Pour marshmallow mixture over 7 cups of rice cereal in a large bowl.
- Stir to combine and totally coat cereal.
- Put mixture into a buttered cookie sheet or jelly roll pan.
- Allow bars to set up.
- Cut sheet in half using a knife or spatula.
- Melt caramel using the stove top or microwave.
- Spread the caramel on half of the pan.
- Fold the other half of the bars over on top of the caramel layer to make a sandwich.
- Cut into squares.
- Melt chocolate in microwave or on the stove top.
- Drizzle melted chocole over the cut bars.
Tips
- If you are in a hurry, stick treats in the refrigerator to help them set up quicker.
- I used Kraft caramel bits because you don’t have to unwrap and they melt easily in the microwave but you can also use the square caramels.
- If you love salted caramel rice krispie treats, sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt on top of the caramel layer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use mini marshmallows instead?
Yes! Use 10 oz. of mini marshmallows if you prefer.
How do I store leftover caramel Rice Krispie treats?
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
I can’t find Kraft caramel bits, what else can I use?
If you can’t find the bits you can use the square, wrapped Kraft caramels. You need 11 oz. of caramels.
Why are my Rice Krispie treats hard?
It could be a couple of things, pressing your bars too hard or melting your marshmallow/butter mixture too fast over heat that is too high are all ways to end up with a treats thatare too hard.
