One of my readers, Kathy, emailed me this morning with a question and I thought some of you may have some great ideas for her!
She is in charge of costume prizes for a young adult Halloween party for a church group and needs ideas
One idea she had was to get a can of cheese and give the award for the “Cheesiest Costume” – I thought that was darling.
I suggested she visit the candy aisle at the store and get inspired.
How about…
Mars Bar – the most far out costume
Snickers – the funniest costume
Hershey Bar – the sweetest costume
Mint Patty – the coolest costume
I know there are a lot of creative minds out there – how about some other ideas?
If you can help her out just leave a comment below and she will be checking them. Hope this helps Kathy!!
I’m running out the door to the airport to go see my college kids!!!

NIPS – You nipped this one in the bud!
Butter – nobody does it butter than you!
Flipz – WE flipped over your costume!
hot dogs – You are the “weaner” of the halloween costume party!
Hey- swing by West Jordan on your way down to Provo! Or just wave from I15.
Found this and thought you might enjoy…
(I can’t attach the picture but they look just like candy corn sugar cookies)
Candy Corn Cookies
1 1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Yellow and Orange food coloring
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Divide dough in half. Tint one portion yellow. Divide remaining dough into two-thirds and one-third portions. Color the larger portion orange; leave smaller portion white.
Shape each portion of the dough into two 8-in. logs. Flatten top and push sides in at a slight angle. Place orange logs on yellow logs; push the sides in at a slight angle. Top with white logs; form a rounded top. Wrap in plastic wrap. Chill for 4 hours or until firm.
Unwrap and cut into 1/2-in. slices. Place 2” apart on un-greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Yield: about 5 dozen.
I LOVE these fun ideas. We just did our parties last week, but the school party for Elijah is tomorrow. I am thinking a few of the candy bar ideas would be fun.
Have a spooky Halloween.
As for the ideas we are doing the old standby… fill a jar with gumballs, or tiny cookies and then the people have to “guesstimate” the number inside. Guess what I found for one of the jars? I found little frosted circus animals in orange and white… made by ARCHWAY. That is one jar…the other jar are the gumballs and then I have a solid color box shaped like a bat that the kids have to guess what is inside.
Like your ideas..! Happy Halloween..
