Why You’ll Love This Recipe!
When summer rolls around, it’s hard not to start craving s’mores. There’s just something about the combination of chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers that instantly brings back memories of warm evenings, backyard fire pits, and family gatherings. If you’re a s’mores lover like I am, this recipe lets you enjoy all those classic flavors without having to build a fire.
This S’mores Popcorn starts with my favorite homemade caramel corn and transforms it into an irresistible summer treat. Every handful is packed with crunchy caramel-coated popcorn, rich chocolate, gooey marshmallows, and crunchy graham crackers. It’s the perfect combination of sweet, salty, crunchy, and chewy. Whether you’re serving it at a summer party, movie night, family gathering, or simply snacking on the patio, this fun twist on a classic campfire favorite is guaranteed to disappear fast!
Ingredients
- Caramel Corn
- Miniature Marshmallows
- Golden Grahams Cereal or graham cracker pieces
- Chocolate Chips

How to Make S’mores Popcorn
- Spread the caramel corn out onto parchment paper on two large cookie sheets. I like to use my microwave caramel corn recipe.
- Add mini marshmallows and Golden Graham cereal or pieces of graham cracker.

- Melt chocolate and drizzle it over the popcorn mixture, lots of chocolate! The chocolate is the glue that holds it all together so don’t skimp on this part!!

- Allow the chocolate to set up. If you are in a hurry, place the popcorn into the refrigerator to set up quicker. After it is set up you can commence munching. You can start munching before it sets up too, it is just a little messier!
Tips from leigh Anne
- Start with fresh popcorn. Freshly popped popcorn gives the best texture and helps the caramel coating stick evenly.
- Remove unpopped kernels. Take a few minutes to pick out any kernels before adding the caramel. Your guests will thank you!
- Let the caramel corn cool slightly. If you’re adding chocolate chips, marshmallows, and graham crackers to homemade caramel corn, allow it to cool for a few minutes first. If it’s too hot, the chocolate will completely melt.
- Use mini marshmallows. They distribute more evenly throughout the popcorn and make every handful taste like a bite of s’mores.
- Break graham crackers into larger chunks. Larger pieces provide more crunch and help recreate the classic s’mores experience.
- Store in an airtight container. S’mores Popcorn stays fresh for several days when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
- Make it party-ready. Package portions in cellophane bags or paper treat cups for summer parties, BBQs, movie nights, or camp-themed gatherings.
- Customize it. Try using milk chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate chunks, or even miniature peanut butter cups for a fun twist on the classic flavor combination.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make s’mores popcorn ahead of time?
Yes! S’mores Popcorn is a great make-ahead treat. Store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days for the best texture and flavor.
Can I use microwave popcorn?
Absolutely. Plain or lightly salted microwave popcorn works well. Just avoid heavily buttered or flavored varieties, which can compete with the caramel and s’mores flavors.
Why did my chocolate melt completely?
If the caramel corn is still too hot when you add the chocolate chips, they will melt. Allow the popcorn to cool for a few minutes if you’d like distinct chocolate pieces throughout the mix.
Can I use large marshmallows instead of mini marshmallows?
Mini marshmallows work best because they distribute evenly throughout the popcorn. If using large marshmallows, cut them into smaller pieces first.

I’m dying to make your caramel corn recipe! My goal is for this to be my handmade holiday gift for people. I have a (dumb) question about the brown paper bag you use – I’m pretty sure I have a full size microwave, but I can’t imagine a big brown bag from the grocery store is going to fit in there. Even folded over! Obviously 16 cups of popcorn isn’t going to fit in the average brown lunch bag either. So, what kind/size brown bag are you using and where do you get it?
Leigh Anne says
It is just a regular size grocery bag – just fold over the top a couple of times and it fits fine!
