Oreo truffles are a fun treat that only requires 4 ingredients and are a quick and easy no bake dessert.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe!
One of the great things about these fun treats is you only need three ingredients and an optional 4th, sprinkles, for decorating. They are so easy to make, the whole family can help. You can dress them with a coating of white chocolate or any color melt and add sprinkles or not. Make for a special occasion or holiday and match the color to the occasion.
Not to mention they are delicious. The chocolate coating gives them a firm exterior which is the perfect complement to the soft, fudgey interior. And they are always a crowd favorite.
Ingredients Needed
- Cream Cheese
- Oreo Cookies, regular not double stuffed.
- White Baking Chocolate
- Sprinkles or Crushed Peppermint Candy, optional
How to Make Oreo Truffles
- Add cookies and softened cream cheese to a blender or food processor and pulse until well combined and nice and creamy.
If you don’t have a blender or food processor, place the cookies in a zippered plastic bag and use a rolling pin to crush them by rolling over the cookies.
- Form balls using a small cookie scoop. Will make approximately 48 one inch balls.
- Place balls on a wax paper or parchment lined cookie sheet and place in freezer for 10 min.
- Put white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in microwave. Stir often. You can also place them in a sauce pan or double boiler and melt them on the stove top. Watch closely and stir often.
- Remove the Oreo balls from the freezer.
- Using a fork, dip balls in melted chocolate until completely covered and then place then on in a single layer on a wax paper or parchment lined baking sheet. Be sure and tap off excess chocolate before placing them on the sheet.
- Sprinkle with desired toppings right after dipping, before the chocolate sets. up
- Return the dipped balls to the refrigerator for one hour or until firm. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
Tips
- Do not make your oreo truffles too big. They will be bigger once you dip them in chocolate and add sprinkles.
- I prefer to dip them in Wilton melts because they melt easily and quickly without burning. If you prefer to use real chocolate, watch it carefully so it doesn’t burn.
- If your dipping chocolate is too thick, add a small amount of vegetable oil or canola oil to it to get it a smoother consistency.
- If chocolate hardens before you are done dipping, rewarm the chocolate in the microwave or on the stove top.
- Make sure Oreo truffles are thoroughly chilled in the freezer so they don’t fall apart when dipping.
