Perfect way to warm up! After a chilly night trick or treating, nothing is better than a cup of hot chocolate. Halloween Hot Chocolate is sure to be a total hit at any Halloween party or to warm up those trick or treaters when they come home.
Get creative. The possibilities are pretty endless. Just add in some food coloring (or leave it white), top it with some whipped cream or mini marshmallows and then add on some edible candy eyes, candy corn or a gummy work! See how many different combinations you can cup up or let the kid’s create their own combinations.

Ingredients Needed
- Milk. I prefer to use whole milk for the creamiest hot chocolate.
- White Chocolate Chips. Use a good quality chocolate for the best taste.
- Vanilla Extract
- Whipped Cream
- Food Coloring
- Toppings: Halloween Sprinkles, candy corn, mini marshmallows

How to Make Halloween Hot Chocolate
- Pour milk into medium saucepan.
- Warm milk on stovetop until bubbles form around the edges. Do not allow it to boil.
- Add in chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.

- Remove from heat and add vanilla extract and food coloring of choice. Whisk to combine.

- Garnish as desired. Those edible googly eyes are the perfect way to top off the whipped cream and so easy to make at home.

- Another fun variation is adding orange food coloring, whipped cream, yellow sprinkles and a few candy corn. This one is for all your candy corn lovers.

Add in whatever color of food coloring you want, and create a fun, festive and delicious Halloween hot chocolate!

Tips from leigh Anne
- Always heat your milk low and slow, don ‘t let it come to a boil. It is ok to just let small bubbles form around the edge of the pan.
- Stir or whisk the milk before pouring it into a mug. The white chocolate will separate out a bit but stirring will recombine.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use milk chocolate or semi sweet chocolate?
Absolutely, use the chocolate of your choice such as milk chocolate, semi sweet chocolate or dark chocolate, you just won’t be able to color it with food coloring.
How long will Halloween hot chocolate last?
Store any leftover hot chocolate in an airtight container in the fridge for 5-7 days. Just reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.
What is the best way to keep it warm to serve to a crowd?
I love to use my crock pot. Bring the hot chocolate to temperature on the stovetop and then pour into crockpot and keep it on warm with the lid on until ready to serve.

Cute hot chocolate! Sorry to hear about you having rain too, Leigh Anne. We also had just short of 4 inches of rain but it was in just over 24 hours about a week ago. Not fun.

Oooohh….I am THRILLED that I found your website via Pinterest. I am now your newest follower. I have a tremendous amount of respect, immense respect, for your advocacy of motherhood/family while concurrently finding a way to be creative and work. I, too, subscribe to that ideology and, as a journalist, live out that belief system. I have managed to maintain some semblance of a professional career while also raising (homeschooling, too) my beloved kids.
You are an immense blessing!
