This grilled flank steak is always a hit and so easy to prepare.  Topping it with chimichurri sauce is perfection and gives the meat even more amazing flavor.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe!

Melt in Your Mouth! Allowing this flank steak to marinate for 2 hours will give you a melt in your mouth texture! You can marinate it shorter but the longer the better!

Dressed up Dinner. Adding a homemade chimichurri sauce to any meat dresses it and makes it even more flavorful.

Ingredients Needed

  • Flank Steak
  • Soy Sauce
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Sugar
  • Garlic
  • Sesame Oil
  • Red Pepper Flakes

  • Ciilantro. Can also use flat leaf parsley.
  • Jalapeno Pepper
  • Apple Cider Vinegar. Can also use red wine vinegar or white wine vinegar
  • Sugar. Or use honey.
  • Olive Oil. Can also use vegetable oil.
  • Garlic

How To Make Flank Steak with Chimichurri

  • Mix soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, garlic, and red pepper flakes.

  • Pour marinade into a Ziploc bag and place flank steak in bag.
  • Marinate it the fridge overnight.

How to Make Chimichurri Sauce

  • Chop cilantro and jalepeƱo pepper.

  • Mix with oil, lime juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, and minced garlic.
  • Place chimichurri in an airtight container and refrigerate overnight.

  • Remove meat from fridge at let reach room temperature.
  • Grill marinated meat until desired doneness. We prefer medium-rare which is 130-140 degrees F.
  • Slice meat with a sharp knife across grain and cover top with chimichurri sauce.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.

Tips

  1. For best results, marinate the flank steak overnight. If you are short on time, marinate for a minimum of two hours.
  2. Always slice flank steak against the grain. This helps make the steak tender to chew.
  3. JalepeƱo seeds are what give the chimichurri sauce its kick. If you don’t like heat, remove the seeds. If you do, add them to your chimichurri sauce.

Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the refrigerator. Chimichurri sauce can be stored in a separate airtight container for 2-3 days

Can I use something other than flank steak?

Good substitutes for flank steak include skirt steak, flat iron steak, sirloin tip steak, tri-tip steak and hanger steak

What can I do with leftover chimichurri sauce?

Any leftover sauce can be used as a salad dressing, a marinade for beef or chicken and also a sauce to toss your roasted vegetables in.

Ingredients

  • 1 flank steak
  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp dried red pepper flakes

Chimichurri Sauce

  • 3/4 cup cilantro chopped
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice
  • 1 jalapeno pepper seed and diced
  • For additional heat add seeds of pepper
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Mix marinade ingredients in ziploc bag and place 1 flank in bag. Marinate overnight
  • Grill marinated meat until desired doneness. Slice across the grain.
  • Slice and cover top with chimichurri sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds

Sauce

  • Combine all ingredients together and refrigerate until ready to use.
