This Apple Cake is the perfect fall dessert. Moist and delicious, it is is full of apples and cinnamon and is my favorite when covered in caramel sauce and whip cream.Â

This recipe was the first one I ever shared here on the blog, back in November of 2007. It is still one of my all time favorite desserts.
It is our favorite dessert that smells and tastes just fall? I anxiously await the fall each year so I can make this Apple Cake recipe. It is one of those desserts that just needs to be eaten in the fall.
The recipe came from my friend Jane. When she gave me the recipe she told me to double the caramel recipe. She was right, I promise, you will want to double it too. You seriously may want to drink the stuff!
She called this cake apple pudding cake. There is no pudding in the cake but it is a nice moist cake.

I just served this cake to my covenant group this afternoon and they raved about it. One person insisted on having the recipe to take home with her. When they came into the house, they commented on how good it smelled. It’s a keeper for sure.

Because I doubled the recipe, I didn’t have as many nuts on hand as I had hoped (too lazy to run to the store) but I went ahead and added the nuts I did have. To add a little more texture to replace the missing nuts I added about 1/3 of a cup of Heath’s English Toffee Bits. It was a lovely addition!

Leigh Anne, I made this for my quilt group tonight and it got raves, not just a “..this is yummy” but there were serious moans and unearthly rapture happening tonight over this cake. It will be a major fall “go to” dessert for me. Thanks!

This looks so good! I usually cheat and use Nana’s Apple Cake from Tastefully Simple, but this looks so easy I might have to try it! Thanks for sharing!
