If you are looking for a delicious and easy pot roast recipe, this slow cooker pot roast is perfect. So easy to make and always so delicious.

The Perfect Pot Roast

There are a couple of things that are perfect about this slow cooker pot roast.  First is how easy it is to make in the slow cooker.  Just pop it in first thing in the morning and then don’t think about it the rest of the day.  And dinner is ready when we are!

The second thing that makes it perfect is the flavor and the texture.  A good pot roast requires no knife.  It basically falls apart when you cut into it with your fork.  The slow cooker helps to achieve that fall apart texture.

The Perfect Pot Roast

Ingredients

  • Chuck Roast
  • Can of Coke
  • Water
  • McCormick’s Slow Cooker Savory Pot Roast Seasoning Packet
  • Carrots
  • Potatoes

How To Make Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Just peel your potatoes and carrots and put them into the slow cooker.

One of the tricks to a perfect pot roast is to brown your meat first.  Just heat up some olive oil in a pan and sear both sides of the roast before adding it to the slow cooker.

The Perfect Potroast

Mix your seasoning packet into the cup of water and add it to the slow cooker. Then pour your can of Coke over the top.  The soda helps to tenderize the meat.

The Perfect Potroast

Then put on your lid, turn your slow cooker to low and forget about it for 8 hours! Remember, you can’t rush a great pot roast!

The Perfect Pot Roast

The only thing left to do is enjoy dinner!

I’ve made this before and loved it. Recently I started trying gluten free recipes to help with some digestive issues my daughter is having. Wondering if you ever figured out a good seasoning substitution that’s gf? I’d love to make this again!

    Thanks,
    Erin

Erin, I haven’t specifically but I’d check out what all is in the seasoning and then try to replicate it without the gluten.

My mom has made a Pepsi pot roast in a roasting pan in the oven for years that is amazing. I know that the regular coke tenderizes the meat, but does the sugar cook away? Most of us in the family are diabetic and need to watch our sugar intake.

Katie, I’m pretty sure you would still have the sugar in there so you may want to find an alternative.

Can you make gravy out of the broth? Looks very good. Will be trying

Sure, you just might want to strain it and then thicken it.

I love a tasy pot roast. Couple of questions tho the mix you sprinkle on mccormicks is quite hi in sodium. Any suggestions for a replacement? Other is does the coke make the juice more saucy???
    Thanks

I don’t have a replacement for the McCormicks but you could just add in your favorite low sodium or no sodium seasoning mix and the coke helps tenderize the meat.

    Hi Leigh Anne!

I haven’t made pot roast before, but this recipe looks easy and delicious. I wanted to know if the results might be similar if the settings for the crock pot are on medium or high for 4-6 hours? The day I have to make this for a luncheon I can’t start until 0600. Any advice??

    Thanks!

It will be fine cooked on high for 4-6 hours.
