Top your homemade soft pretzels with one of these delicious sweet or savory Pretzel Dipping Sauces for the perfect party appetizer.
One of our favorite Super Bowl appetizers are fresh and warm soft pretzels with a fun selection of dipping sauces. If you are not in the mood or don’t have time to make soft pretzels you can pick up a bag of store bought pretzels. They word well with the sauces too. Or you can buy soft pretzels in the freezer section of your grocery store.
I made four different dipping sauces. Two sweet and two savory.
Dulce de Leche
I was so excited to find dulce de leche in the jar at World Market. I have not been able to find it anywhere in Portland and have had to make my own. Now I’ve got a quicker and easier alternative.
Dulce de leche right out of the jar makes an amazing pretzel dipping sauce! You can always make your own if you want using my Crockpot Dulce de Leche recipe.
Chocolate Cream Dipping Sauce
Another one that is almost as easy is the Chocolate Cream Dipping Sauce. I purchased a jar of Dark Chocolate Spread (it’s from Holland) and combined it with some whipped cream. I whipped a cup of cream and then added in 3 Tbsp of the chocolate spread. Easy and delicious! This one would also be delicious straight out of the jar but I liked the little lighter version you get with the whipped cream added.
Spicy Cheese Dipping Sauce
You can’t have pretzel dipping sauces without a cheese sauce. For this one I purchased the Swiss cheese fondue from World Market and then spiced it up a bit with some dry mustard, garlic and hot sauce for a spicy cheese sauce
Sweet Mustard Dipping Sauce
And finally there was a sweet mustard sauce. I used a dijon mustard combined with some garlic. Easy and delicious!
