Why You’ll Love This Recipe!

This recipe for Marshmallow Popcorn was one of the first recipes I pinned from Pinterest, back in the olden days.

I experimented with a lot of recipes I found on Pinterest in the beginning and I found it’s a little bit of a risk when you try something you’ve pinned.

When I found this popcorn,  the pinner assured us that they were totally obsessed with this treat and couldn’t get enough of it. There was no link back to a blog so unfortunately I can’t give them credit.  I discovered that they were right, this popcorn was amazing and my faith was restored in Pinterest.

  • Using microwave popcorn makes this marshmallow popcorn recipe quick and easy.

How to Make Marshmallow Popcorn

  • Pop popcorn and remove any unpopped kernels.
  • In a bowl, melt the butter, sugar and marshmallows together.  You can do it in the microwave or in a pan on the stove top.

  • Pour marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and stir until evenly coated.
  • Spread it out on a cookie sheet  or just pour it into a big bowl.
  • Start eating!  I promise you won’t want to stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will marshmallow popcorn last?

Stored in an airtight container it will last for a few days. It will get a little softer and chewier each day as the popcorn absorbs more of the marshmallow.

What kind of popcorn should I use?

It is easiest to use microwave popcorn but you can also pop your corn on the stove top or in an air popper. You need 24 cups of popcorn.

Can I make popcorn balls with this recipe?

Yes! This popcorn is sticky enough to hold together as a popcorn ball. Wrap each ball separately in plastic wrap.

Has anyone tried this using popcorn made with a Whirly Pop popcorn maker? Any adjustments made?
My Whirly Pop makes the best popcorn and I can’t eat the microwave kind anymore.

Never tried it in a whirly pop but I am sure you could just pop it in there and then continue from there with the recipe.

Ok! I had to try this one immediately! I’m blaming you for my diet failing! Ha! This is sooooo good! I only made 1/2 too but that is a lot considering that I am home alone tonight! I only used one bag of popcorn (the bowl kind) but cut the other ingredients in half! Really habit forming!! I forgot to take out the unpopped kernels though so I have to watch for those!

I knew I should have put some kind of disclaimer on the recipe – I am not responsible for any weight you may put on eating the whole bag yourself!! Because you are going to want to! Glad you liked it. I couldn’t keep my hands out of it!

If you want to get rid of the unpopped kernels, carefully open the hole the existing steam vent hole a little. Hold upside down and gently shake. They will begin to fall out.

For some reason I can’t comment on Portland Mama…so I’m putting it here for you.

I can’t wait to try this!!! Oh, and just to add something to the microwave tip, you don’t have to add oil or staple it if you don’t want to. Simply put the popcorn in a paper lunch sack and roll down the bag a couple of times, or twist it like my husband does. It comes out air-popped. So good and healthy!!! Enjoy!
