Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Honey Ginger Chicken in moist and full of flavor. The chicken thighs don’t dry out as easily as chicken breasts do. The sauce in this recipe is thick and delicious and is a combination of soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, honey and ginger. Don’t let the use of ketchup scare you away, I promise you, the sauce is delicious.
How to Make Honey Ginger Chicken
- Combine all the sauce ingredients.
- Place chicken in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over the top.
- Cook on high for about 3-4 hours or low for about 5-6 hours.
How to Serve Honey Ginger Chicken
As the chicken cooks, a yummy sauce forms. Spoon it over the top of the chicken when serving. Garnish with some green onions and sesame seeds. We love it served over rice.
Tips from Leigh Anne
- I always keep chicken thighs in my freezer so this is an easy, last minute slow cooker meal that can be cooked in a shorter amount of time too. It doesn’t take all day like a lot of slow cooker recipes. If you don’t have chicken thighs you can use chicken breasts.

This recipe really caught my eye, but I am thinking I’ll make a couple of modifications based on my own tastes. First, I’ll use fresh basil instead of dry, second, I’ll use more garlic, and third, I think I’ll replace the ketchup with tomato sauce, simply because I’m not a fan of cooking with ketchup and, in fact, since my kids have grown up, don’t even keep it in the house any more. My daughter is a culinary arts student so I’ve asked her to add her input as well before I give it a try later this week. Thank you so much for sharing this yummy looking, easy meal!
