Slow Cooker Caramelized Onions turn out perfectly in the slow cooker and can be used for so many things such as soups, pastas and on top of burgers.
Several weeks ago I was able to spend a few days at The J.M. Smucker’s headquarters in Orville, Ohio. I learned lots about the company, met lots of fun bloggers and ate a lot of yummy food. I think this may have been my favorite idea they shared with us!!
They showed us how to caramelize onions in a slow cooker. I love caramelized onions but what I don’t like is chopping onions. My husband is the official onion chopper at our house. This recipe allows you to cook a large batch at once. Then you can freeze them to use whenever you like.
Ingredients Needed
- Onions
- Olive Oil
- Salt

You can use either.

Must try your recipe. I fill a medium size skillet with sliced onions, top with butter pats and cover with Cavenders Greek Seasoning and insert in the hickory smoker grill after the burgers/chicken/pulled pork/whatever? cooks. Thanks for sharing your healthy recipe.

I am wondering if butter would work as a substitute for the olive oil?
Leigh Anne says
I have never tried it before but it’s worth trying! Let me know if you do.
