Put together all your favorite popcorn flavors in a Popcorn Bar for a quick and easy party idea. It’s a fun addition to any party.
One of my favorite ways to host a party of teenagers is with a Popcorn Bar. We filled big bowls with different flavors of popcorn and added some candy for mixing into the popcorn. We set up a projector and screen in the backyard with a movie and they were set! Popcorn and a movie is a perfect combo.
How Much Popcorn Do I Need?
The amount will vary depending on what other food you are serving at the party. Plan on 2 -3 cups of popcorn per person
Tips for Putting Together A Popcorn Bar
Variety of popcorn. Be sure to have a variety of flavors of popcorn including both sweet and savory.
Sweet Popcorn
- Kettle Corn
- Caramel Corn
Savory Popcorn
- Buttery Movie Popcorn
- Cheddar Cheese Popcorn
- White Cheddar Popcorn.
Serving Containers. Provide bowls or bags for each person to put together their own popcorn and candy combo. I found some paper popcorn boxes at the Dollar Store.
Popcorn Bar Topping Ideas
Of course we had to have candy to go with the popcorn. What would a movie be without popcorn and candy?!?!
- Milk Duds
- M & M’s
- Licorice
- Whoppers
- Mike & Ikes
- Swedish Fish
- Sugar Babies
And then to wash everything down there was root beer. Served out of a fun vintage Pepsi crate! I added a few white daises into the old, empty pepsi/coke bottles.

What a sweet post. I was so touched I got up and tried to find my home made caramel corn recipe which is super easy and uses 1/2 and 1/2 and cooks in the oven. Being the queen of disorganization, I couldn’t find it. I will keep looking and when I DO FIND IT, I will be back. I checked out your posted recipe and what I like about mine is you wouldn’t loose any topping in the bag. If you’re like me, topping is the best part.
I need either a secretary or a wife to help me organize.
Anyway, what a lovely story. When I read of thoughtful gestures, it fills me with joy and enriches me. Thank you.
