Giant Sugar Cookie

This giant sugar cookie is crispy around the edges and soft in the middle. You can make it with sprinkles or top it with buttercream frosting.

When you add sprinkles to this sugar cookie it becomes a party in a cookie. Not only does it look like a party it tastes like one too!

This giant sugar cookie measures 6 inches across and is a buttery delicious treat for 1-2 people. If you aren’t a sprinkle person you can top it with a buttercream frosting. Make every day a party with a giant cookie!!

Cookie Ingredients

  • Butter, softened
  • Sugar
  • Extract. Vanilla, almond, orange, lemon.
  • Egg. Use 1 Tbsp of beaten egg, the remaining egg can be frozen in ice cube trays, 1 Tbsp per cube and used later.
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Baking Soda
  • Sprinkles

How to Make a Giant Sugar Cookie

  • Cream butter with the back of a spoon until soft.
  • Add in sugar and mix to combine.
  • Mix in egg and extract.
  • Add in dry ingredients and sprinkles if desired until all is combined.

  • Form dough into a ball and roll dough in sprinkles.

  • Place ball of dough on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Press down on ball to form a 3 Inch wide disc of dough.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 14-16 minutes.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

If you prefer frosting over sprinkles use this recipe. I like to use almond extract but you can use vanilla or any flavor you like.

  • Mix softened butter with powdered sugar, extract and just enough milk or cream to make a nice smooth frosting consistency.

How Many Smaller Cookies will the recipe make?

You can make two medium size cookies with this recipe or four small cookies.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp butter softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar salted
  • 1 Tbsp egg beaten
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour plus 1 Tbsp
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 Tbsp sprinkles

Buttercream Frosting

  • 2 Tbsp butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp extract almond or vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp milk if needed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Mix together softened butter and sugar.
  • Add in egg and vanilla. Mix to combine.
  • Add in dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Form into a ball and roll in sprinkles if desired
  • Place on parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 14-15 minutes. Cookie will be golden brown around edges and soft in the middle.

Buttercream Frosting

  • Mix together butter, sugar, extract, salt. If needed, add in milk to get a nice smooth spreading consistency.
  • Frost cooled cookie.
