Turn your favorite candy bar into your favorite ice cream. Candy Bar Ice Cream is the perfect solution to leftover candy bars.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe!
If you have a surplus of leftover Halloween or Easter candy at your house, I’ve got the solution. This ice cream is a fun and different way to use up that candy!
If you don’t have leftover candy, go and buy some candy bars so you can make this delicious ice cream!
Ingredients Needed
- Candy bars. You will need six ounces which is three full size candy bars. I used a combination of Milky Way, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, and Twix. You could use any candy bar but you are going to melt some of the candy so if the candy bar has nuts or a cookie base, that will not melt but it still works. You can also use an equivalent amount of mini or fun size candy bars.
- Milk. I use a combination of whole milk, half and half and whipping cream.
- Sugar
- Salt
How to Make Candy Bar Ice Cream
- Cut the candy bars into small pieces.
- Melt 4 oz. of the candy bars into a cup of milk either in the microwave or in sauce pan on the stove top. Stir consistently so it doesn’t burn or boil. Set aside the remaining chopped up candy bar.
- Stir until the candy bar melts and mixture is smooth. If you used candy bars with nuts or cookie you will have lumps but like I said, that’s fine!
- Allow this mixture to cool. Place in the refrigerator to speed up the process.
- Add in remaining ingredients to cooled mixture.
- Put into ice cream maker and process according to manufacturers directions.
- When it is done processing, or almost done stir in the remaining chopped up candy bar. If you put the candy pieces in too early it may clog up on the bottom of the ice cream maker.
I love the creaminess of this ice cream – it reminded of soft serve ice cream when it was first processed. It firms up if you put it in the freezer.
I can’t wait to try it with some other candy bar flavors. I’m thinking we’re going to love Snickers
