I went for a totally new and different look for my holiday decor this year. My inspiration for what I did was the new art work in my living room by Britt Bass. I love this piece and the colors. It has a more modern feel to it but I wanted to combine my love for vintage with this more modern feel. I think I succeed as I combined some of my ironstone and milk glass collection along with some vintage ornaments and my vintage glittered putz house village on my piano. I hope you enjoy this little tour of my new living room holiday decor as much as I do! I’ll be sharing my other holiday decor later this week.
I started with my mantel. I didn’t want to distract too much from my beautiful new artwork. I wanted to compliment. Fortunately for me Target went with my color scheme this holiday and I found the perfect little trees for mantel there along with the Joy sign which is my word of choice. The gold vases were already on the mantel, I just added the ornament in front of them. My new stockings from Caitlin Wilson were the perfect finishing touch to the mantel!
I loved the fun addition of the deer head and the boxwood wreath was perfect.
I use to load my mantel up with greenery and things but decided to give with it a more clean approach this year and I absolutely love it.
The other area in my living room I was most excited about decorating was newly painted piano.
In the last few years I have developed quite a little love affair with Glittered Putz houses and the top of my piano was the perfect place to display my growing collection!
As you will see as we continue the tour I also have a slight obsession with vintage style bottle brush trees!
I am totally in love with my new tree. I went with a gold and blue theme for the tree. Yes, I am one of those who loves a themed tree. I have always had a themed tree. When my children were little there was the tree with all of their ornaments and then there was mom’s tree. Now that the kid’s are all gone the trees are all mom’s trees! You’ll get to see my Joy tree later this week. If you’d like tips and ideas on how I decorate my Christmas trees check out my How to Decorate a Christmas Tree post.
Isn’t she pretty? I’m kind of in love.
My new white shelves in the living room provided some additional space for decorating. I kept it pretty simple just adding a few fun holiday decorations here and there. I pretty much left everything that was already on the shelve there and just added in some Christmas decor.
The shelves were the perfect place for my white nativity my mother in law made me years ago.
Some mercury glass and a milk glass bowl full of vintage ornaments were the perfect touch for the coffee table.
I hope you’ve enjoy my little tour. Stay tuned later this week for the rest of the house!
