Last year I saw lots of blogs featuring Oreo Truffles. I never did give them a try but thought they looked and sounded amazing! Last week my friend Tricia asked me to help with a big church dinner coming up and she wanted me to make Oreo Truffles. I was so excited because they had been on my To Try list for over a year!
So I made 175 Oreo truffles – minus the few that I ate! Initially I thought 175 truffles was going to take a while but they are so SIMPLE and EASY to make it didn’t take much time at all!!
Some of the recipes floating around out there in blogland have you dip the truffle into chocolate after making them which I am sure would be wonderful – especially if it was white chocolate. But I just rolled them in more crushed up Oreo and they are divine!!
My husband said they looked like little balls of dirt and they do – but they don’t taste like dirt!
I am not going to tell Tricia how many I ate before delivering them to her house. We started out with about 175 but I’m not sure how many were there by the time they were delivered!!
Here are the easy steps to making Oreo Truffles – I will definitely be making another batch next week for Valentine treats!! Hope my neighbors like them!
I have cut the recipe down – this version only makes about 40 truffles instead of 175!
Step One:
Crush 9 of the Oreos in the blender and reserve for later.
Step Two:
Crush remaining 36 Oreos and keep them separate
Step Three:
Beat 8 oz. of softened cream cheese until smooth
Step Four:
Add larger bowl of crushed Oreos to cream cheese
Step Five:
Mix until thoroughly blended together.
Step Six:
Form cream cheese/Oreo mixture into about 1 inch sized balls or slightly smaller. Roll into the reserved crushed Oreo. If you are going to dip them in chocolate you do not need to roll them in the remaining cookie crumbs.
Step Seven:
Place on cookie sheet and refrigerate until firm.
Step Eight:
Place on a pretty plate and then eat!
Do you have a favorite Valentine treat?

very pretty looking and super easy to make!
These are super easy and very rich. I make these at Christmas and everyone loves them. Thanks for reminding me that they aren’t just for Christmas.
I have been following your blog for a couple of months now and love it!!!!
Those look great. simple, and not terribly expensive..
That’s so crazy. I just blogged this same thing yesterday! We had a R.S. Enrichment to teach us how on Wednesday night. Funny how things hit all at the same time!
we make these every year for teachers – the kids LOVE doing it – and we dip them in all sorts of different things…white and milk chocolate, drizzle with the opposite color…sprinkle with powdered sugar…they are great for the kids – and YUMMY, too…happy truffles!
Caution: Leigh Anne’s photos cause instant salivation response. I am FB posting this to spread the fun!
I make these too but I dip them in melted chocolate. They are sooooo yummy!
So, you don’t even have to scrape the cream out of the middle, right?
It is my birthday today and I asked readers on my blog to pledge to do something to make the world a better place today. I consider this recipe a stellar contribution to the planet
THANK YOU! Thanks for making our world a better place in so many ways!
PS: You could also roll them in coloured sugar (red/pink/white) to make them look less like dirt. Although that dirt looks plenty appetizing to me
What a fantastic idea to roll them in crushed oreos instead of dipping in chocolate. I’m definitely trying that next time. You are so creative – I love it!
Mmmmm…lucky me, I’ll try them tonight!

Yes – you just blend them up filling and all!
I’m definitely adding these to my Valentine’s treats for friends! Thanks for sharing!
I’m also planning to include frosted sugar cookies and white chocolate fudge with the pink/red/white M&M’s mixed in–so pretty & tasty.
You always have THE best recipes!! Can’t wait to give it a try!
This is so easy! Im goingto make this and surprise my babies here at home! They are crazy about oreos, and I bet the’d be surprised with this recipe
Thanks for sharing! We’d also love a link to this post from our site.(This will direct Foodista readers to your blog)Here’s how you can create inbound links from our site Check it out here.
That sounds so easy and delicious! I love anything with oreos!
Do these need to be refrigerated?
Kari »
Yes – because there is cream cheese in them they do need to be in the refrigerator. That is if any last long enough to make it!
I saw a super fun recipe in this months Ladies Home Journal. It’s for “Passion Pops” I’ll email you the picture of them. You melt caramel squares (or the little bits they make now) And scoop small dollops of the caramel in between 2 Nilla Waffers. Stick a sucker stick in the caramel. After it has set up some you dip the whole thing into melted chocolate. Decorate with Valentine sprinkles.
Wow, I’ve never heard of these, but they look to-die-for! I just perfected a gluten-free version of oreo cookies, and have a few still in my freezer. I might have to give this recipe a whirl! Thanks for posting it!
i am making these tonight for a party and cannot wait. My grandmother in law made some heart shaped ones last week and i feel in love with them!
Could I please have the oreo recipe for 200 servings?
I am doing a wedding. How about a few more big recipes, please?
Betty
It’s so funny you call them dirt balls, that’s what my husband call them too.
My SIL Rachel made these with peppermint oreos and they were fantastic! I had to get away fast so I wouldn’t eat all of them.
I made these and they were delicious and a big hit. I used double stuffed oreos. I don’t know if that makes a difference or not. Now, whenever I go to the store I make sure to pick up some oreos and cream cheese so I have the ingredients on hand whenever I crave the yummyness of this tasty dessert. Todd and Everson both loved them. Everson wouldn’t stop asking for more!
I used my smalled Pampered Chef scoop and only got 37 dirt balls. Your scoop must be really tiny.
Is there any recommended cream cheese?

I use the generic store brand and it works fine
Hi, Leigh Anne–
Two quick questions…my sister has requested I make these for her daughter’s wedding (yes, they are a hit in our family!), so I am making about 200. When you made your large batch, how many packages of oreos and cream cheese were you able to mix at once? Also, have you ever tried freezing these, and if so, was it a success? Thank you so much!
@Shelli:
I have never frozen them but think they should be fine. You can freeze cheesecake so think these would be the same. Here’s the large quanity recipe – have fun!
Oreo Truffles
120 Oreos (14 per package in Costco pack)
32 oz. cream cheese, softened
Crush about 25 Oreos in food processor to fine crumbs. Set aside for rolling. Crush remaining cookies. Add cream cheese. Mix until well blended. Roll into small balls ~1” in diameter. Roll in reserved cookie crumbs. Refrigerate. This should make 150-200 truffles, depending on the size. The goal is have them be bite-size. All measurements are approximate, depending on how much cream cheese vs. oreo flavor you like. You can also dip them in white or dark chocolate instead of rolling them in crumbs.
Well, I think I must have done something wrong . . . but this recipe is so easy that it should have been impossible to make a mistake! They were too sweet for us – even for our grandkids, who are lovers of anything Oreo.
Maybe I made them too big? Oh dear! Did anyone else have this experience?
i use philadelphia regular or 1/3 less fat…either is fine.
I absolutely love this recipe! So simple yet so amazing!
Made these for a preschool Halloween Party….just added some Halloween colored sprinkles to the crumb coating ~~ they were a huge hit…Thank you!
These are SO good!! I could eat POUNDS of them!!!
I love this recipe! Been looking for the right one for a while now! And thanks for giving the large batch recipe as well!
Do these have to stay refrigerated since there is cream cheese in them? I plan on making them the night before a party.
Yes, you want to refrigerate them. They are better chilled too!
Jerrick has been making these for a while, but just tried a new variety by dipping them in melted Andes Mint Chocolates. I don’t go crazy over the regular oreo balls, but the minty version is so yummy it ought to be a sin! BTW, I found your blog on a google search and then realized “Hey, I know Leigh Anne!” Hope all is well.
