A Fresh Peach Shake is my favorite way to eat a peach!
I went peach picking last week. Here in Oregon that usually doesn’t happen until mid August and into September but because of a really hot May the peaches are ready a month or so early! I picked Veterans and Canadian Harmony. I’m not a peach expert so I’m really not sure what the difference is but that is what they were picking that day at the peach orchard. I know that Veterans are a favorite among canners and years ago, when I use to can, we always used Veterans for our canned peaches.
Even though I don’t can anymore I still like to pick peaches so I can make lots of yummy peach desserts including today’s, Fresh Peach Shakes. Whenever I go to Utah to visit in August I always have to make a trip or two or three to Taco Amigo, a local taco joint, for a fresh peach shake. Utah has great peaches too and you can only get a fresh peach shake at Taco Amigo for about one month out of the year. I have been known to plan my trips to Utah around fresh peach shake season! But no more. Now I can make them at home!!
For a large single serving shake I used a peach and a half – just eat the other half or dice it and add into shake after it is blended if you like chunks in your shake (I don’t). Also, some vanilla ice cream (buy a good quality ice cream, no cheap stuff), vanilla, milk and a touch of sugar. Just pop it in the blender and pulse a few times.
Pour it into a glass, add a straw and enjoy!
Of course topping it with some whipped cream and a cherry makes everything better.

Our family loves Taco Amigo 🙂 I’ve had their fresh strawberry shake, but not the peach. We aren’t in Utah anymore, so I’ll have to try this one on my own, too. It sounds amazing!
