This homemade Orange Freeze is creamy, frosty, and bursting with bright citrus flavor. Made with 3 simple ingredients, it’s the perfect refreshing treat for hot summer days and tastes just like your favorite drive-in classic.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe!
If you’re a fan of nostalgic summer treats, you’re going to love this Orange Freeze recipe. Growing up, one of my favorite summer traditions was heading to the local drive-in on a warm evening and ordering a frosty orange freeze.
A freeze is similar to a milkshake but it is usually made with sherbet instead of ice cream. Â Where a milkshake is creamy, a freeze is frosty!
You can make your freeze any flavor you want but my favorite is orange. An orange freeze is super easy to make at home – no drive in needed!
It’s cool, refreshing, and packed with bright orange flavor blended into a smooth, creamy drink. This Orange Freeze is guaranteed to hit the spot. One sip and you’ll be transported back to those carefree summer nights at the drive-in.

Ingredients Needed
- Orange Sherbet
- Orange Juice
- Milk

How to Make An Orange Freeze
- Place all the ingredients in a blender.
- Blend. In just a few seconds you have a delicious, refreshing summertime treat.

Tips from leigh Anne
- You can make other flavor combinations like Lemon Sherbet with lemon lime soda or lemonade, lime Sherbet with lemon lime soda, or Rainbow Sherbet with orange juice.
- Use very cold ingredients. Starting with chilled orange juice and ice cream helps create the thick, frosty texture that makes an Orange Freeze so refreshing
- Adjust the thickness. For a thicker freeze, add a little more ice cream. For a thinner, more drinkable version, add a splash of milk or extra orange juice.
- Blend just until smooth. Overblending can cause the mixture to become too thin. Blend only until the ingredients are combined and creamy.
- Serve immediately. Orange Freezes are best enjoyed right after blending when they are thick, cold, and frosty.
- Freeze your glasses. For an extra-special drive-in experience, place your serving glasses in the freezer for 15-20 minutes before serving.
- Garnish for fun. Top with whipped cream, an orange slice, or a sprinkle of orange zest for a pretty presentation.
- Scale the recipe easily. This recipe can be doubled or tripled to serve a crowd, making it perfect for summer parties and family gatherings.
There’s a reason Orange Freezes have remained a favorite summer treat for generations. With their creamy texture, bright citrus flavor, and refreshing frosty goodness, they’re the perfect way to cool down on a hot day. Whether you’re recreating fond memories of trips to the local drive-in or introducing this classic treat to a new generation, this easy homemade Orange Freeze is sure to become a summertime favorite.
