Flavored honey butter combines, butter, honey, fruit, and cinnamon to make delicious spread for your biscuits and rolls.
I was first introduced to Flavored Honey Butter by my mother in law. She is from good Idaho pioneer stock and honey butter is a must!
Honey butter is usually just that, a combination of honey and butter but my mother in law has a secret ingredient in her honey butter. That secret ingredient is vanilla. The addition of vanilla makes all the difference.
Her other secret is to beat it for 10 minutes – yes 10 minutes! It creates a light and fluffy honey butter that is divine. The butter will change textures a few times while beating but keep beating. It will end up light and fluffy.
My mother in law’s original recipe calls for 1 C butter to 1 1/2 C honey. I decided to do equal amounts this time because I didn’t want the sweetness of the honey to overpower the other flavors I was going to be adding in. But if you prefer a sweeter honey butter add in more honey!
For our Honeycomb themed challenge I decided to dress up my honey butter. Since it is peach season I decided to use some fresh peaches I had. I just peeled and diced them and mixed them in.
I left them fairly chunky but you could definitely mash them up more.
My next ingredient of choice was cinnamon. I first enjoyed cinnamon honey butter at Texas Roadhouse and have been a fan ever since. I just added in 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. So good. Especially delicious on waffles or pancakes.
I also had some fresh blueberries so that was my third flavor choice. You could really use any fresh fruit you have on hand. If you don’t have fresh fruit just mix in a couple of tablespoons of any fruit jam you may have.
Again, I smashed up the blueberries to my liking and just mixed them in.
I have to say that I think the blueberry honey butter was my favorite! I think next time I may add in a little cinnamon with the blueberries. Yum!!
I am sure you can see here that the possibilities and pretty much endless. What flavor of honey butter would you make?
