Kids will love creating their own Halloween Candy Kebobs at your next Halloween party. A fun project and they can eat it too.
Putting together a candy bar for Halloween candy skewers was fun and easy and the perfect addition to our neighborhood Halloweenie Roast.It is amazing how much Halloween themed candy is out there.
Supplies Needed
- Candy. You will need a selection of gummy type candies and foil wrapped chocolate candies. I found great stuff at Target, Walgreens, the Dollar Store and the bulk food bins at Winco.
- Bamboo Skewers. You can find them at the grocery store. They are the kind you use to make shiskabob.
- Containers for Candy. If you are having your guests assemble their own candy skewers you will need a container for each candy. I pulled out all my clear glass containers and filled them up! I think all of my containers have come from Goodwill. Just make sure the container is big enough to get your hand in and out of.
How to Make Candy Kebobs
- Soak the wooden skewers in water. This makes it easier to slide the candy onto the kabobs. Be sure and dry them off before adding the candy.
- Lay out your candy next to the skewer so you can see how it looks. It is hard to take the candy off the skewer once it is on there.
- Fill the candy kabobs about ¾ full. Leave part of the skewer showing so there is something to hang on to. The amount of candy needed per kabob depends on the size of each piece of candy.
- Thicker candy works better than thinner candy as it is easier to slide onto the skewer.
- Variety. Have a variety of candy both a variety of color and a variety of shape and size.
Of course there was candy corn too but that didn’t really work on the skewers so we just ate it!
Best Candy for Skewers
Having a variety of candy is in different sizes, shapes and colors is important.
Gummy candy such as worms, pumpkins, dots and even body parts.
Marshmallow Candy. I found fun Halloween marshmallows and ghost and pumpkin shaped Peeps (another one of my personal favorites).
Orange Slices were a big hit too. The chocolate covered pretzels were just for munching.

The kids loved creating their own candy kebob creation – and of course eating the candy too!

Leigh Anne you are so creative! I love the candy kabob idea. I also collect glass jars at Goodwill. Food does look prettier in a glass jar. The black stands you have some of the containers on are really cute and functional. Happy Haunting!
