I am excited to be at camp this year as it is my daughter’s last year to attend and I am looking forward to spending the week with her. I am also excited to be one of the “craft ladies.” I have been working with my friend Nanette and we have some fun camp crafts planned for the girls this week during their craft time. So while I am away at camp I thought I’d share with you what we will be doing with the girls.
Camp Journals – Girl’s Camp Craft Ideas
The first thing they will be making is their camp journal. They can use this during their week at camp and once they get home to record their thoughts and ideas. The girls attend a class each day called Destiny which is the “spiritual” part of camp and hopefully they can use the journal to record what they learn and feel there as well. Nanette did a great job decorating those boring composition notebooks and made them look super cute!
Supplies Needed For Camp Journal
- Notebook. I purchased Composition notebooks from the Dollar Store.
- Scrapbook paper. An assortment of colors and patterns.
- Ribbon
- Duct Tape. Colorful and patterned tape
- Embellishments. Buttons or old scrapbooking supplies.
- Glue. We used spray adhesive for the paper and gluesticks and hot glue for the embellishments.
How to Make Camp Journals
- Cut paper to fit the front and back of the journal.
- Use spray adhesive to adhere paper to front and back of journal.
- Cover spine of journal with duct table.
- Decorate front of journal with embellishments.
It is fun to see the girl’s personalities come out in the way they decorate the journal.
Washer Necklaces – Girl’s Camp Craft Ideas
The girl’s loved the washer necklaces and some of them even made them into bracelets.
Supplies Needed for Washer Necklaces
- Scrapbook Paper. We were able to use the scraps from the scrapbook paper used on the journals for the necklaces.
- Washers. We purchased two different sizes from Home Depot.
- Mod Podge. For adhearing the paper to the washers.
- Paper Punches We used these to cut out the paper but this could also be done by tracing the shape on the paper and cutting out with scissors.
- Diamond Glaze. This is put over the paper to give it a shiny, resin look.
- Leather cording or necklaces. We found ours on ebay.
How to Make Washer Necklaces
- Cut out the paper to the size of the washers, including using a hole punch to cut out the center circle.
- Mod Podge or glue paper to the washer.
- Apply the Diamond Glaze over the paper and allow to dry.
- Once it is completely dried you can string it onto the necklace.
Here’s a great tutorial for washer necklaces. She uses a different type of glue in the tutorial but we had lots of mod podge so wanted to use that up.
