Sharing my 20 Top Books I’ve read in the 10 Past Years

Top 20 Books

I love sharing the books I read. Lately I have been sharing my yearly lists over on Instagram. Today I wanted to share with you some of my all time favorite books, at least from the last ten years!

Do you keep track of the books you read each year? I’ve been keeping a list since 1998. If you don’t keep a list, you should. I love looking over this list. It’s a lot like visiting old friends. My only regret is I didn’t start sooner.

As I was looking over it recently I decided it might be fun to put together a Top Ten list. My Top Ten Books of the Past Ten Years. It was a little harder to do that I thought it would be. It was like trying to pick just one best friend.  So I decided to pick a #1 pick and then a runner up.  And thus the list became  My Top Twenty Books of the Past Ten Years!

I hope you have fun looking over the list and that it brings to your mind some of your favorite books. Leave a comment and share with me what your favorite book is that you read last year!

Since I have reviewed many of the books on my previous Book Lists I am just going to list the title and the author.  You can click on over to Amazon and read about the book.

We’ll count backwards starting with…

Top Read of 2005

It was a difficult to pick a top book from 2005 because I only read 5 books in 2005 and none of them were that noteworthy. It was a bad year for reading. So I decided to pick a favorite from the years 1998 when I started keeping my list through 2003.  Hope that’s o.k!

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

Looking forward to reading some of these! Some I have read & loved… My favourite books include The Life of Pi and The Dovekeepers. Both will be reread again! I also love any book written by Mitch Albom. Love his little messages. Have you any interest in reading The Mists of Avalon? If you haven’t already, look it up… I loved it! Cheers!

Oh my goodness, I feel like we are book twins. I love almost everything on your list (and haven’t read the ones I didn’t love!), and count them among my favorites too, especially The Winter Sea and The Art of Hearing Heartbeats. I think I’ve only not read 3 of your choices, and I’m adding them now! Do you use goodreads?

I am on Goodreads but haven’t updated it in over a year – I’d love to see what you’ve been reading.

This is my first visit to your page, thanks to a pin on Pinterest. Since I spend most of my time on non-fiction and mysteries, I haven’t been keeping up on fiction, although I have heard of several of these books.
I do appreciate your insight, as to keeping a list, which I truly wish I had done sooner in life. My list is appallingly late to the party, although I still keep track of my favorites on Goodreads. It’s a shame that Amazon took it over, but it’s still a brilliant site for finding and keeping track of book lists.
Having said that, I’d just like to say that I was disappointed that your list isn’t linked to more than just a photo of the book, and you’ve offered no commentary here. I’d love to see why you found them so fascinating. If you reviewed them previously here, links would be useful. If not, perhaps a link to Goodreads or Amazon or the New York Times review, or …..
I don’t have a blog, and I have no ides how difficult this might be to do this, so it might not be within your scope. This is just a suggestion as to what would have made this more enjoyable for me, and perhaps others.
It does look like a lovely list. I chose to read it, because a few are on my Goodreads ‘Want to read’ list.
    Happy reading!

Jane, As I mentioned in the post this was meant to be a list. I have reviewed many of the books in previous posts so this was just a list. Each book is linked to a review on Amazon though if you’d like to read more about the book.

What a fun list! I love that you’ve kept track all these years…visiting old friends. I am a horrible reader. Maybe no one read to me as a child?!? I’ve read the Help and loved it, actually I listened to it on audio, that was fun. I like your suggestions;)

I have some kids that are readers and some that aren’t. The Help is a great book – have you tried listening to books on CD or on your phone?
