40 Days of Fanatical Focus

Focus – we’ve been talking a lot about it lately – how to get it and how to keep it!  It can certainly be a challenge, especially at my age!!

Carrie over at Barefoot Executive has a “40 Days of Fanatical Focus” Challenge going on.  Her challenge is to pick a goal in 4 different parts of your life (Health, Spiritual, Family or Business) that you would like to focus on and hopefully accomplish in the next forty days.

Carrie said….

  ” I’ve written down where I want to be in 40 days in these areas (measurable goals) and where I am starting today.  I’ve chosen a couple of key things to focus on every day and for FORTY DAYS I am NOT going to be distracted.”

She asks visitors to her site who are accepting her challenge to share what their goals are for their 40 days of Fanatical Focus.  There were lots of great goals including:

Exercise every day and lose 10 lbs.

Early morning prayer and quiet time before beginning the day

Read certain books

Get 10 home events on the calendar for their business

Work 1 hour a day in the yard

Finish up certain projects

Make 3 contacts for their business every day for the next 40 days

L A Idea – Well, I love the idea!  In fact, in a little over 40 days my sweet daughter will graduate from high school.  When my other two boys graduated I presented them with a set of completed scrapbooks of their wonderful life so far.

I have done a great job of keeping my family scrapbooks up to date but I have fallen behind the last couple of years on sweet daughter’s and there are a few gaps here and there in her earlier years.  I want to have her scrapbooks ready for her when she graduates June 2nd.

I also want to complete a digital “Sisters” album  for her to take to college with her complete with pictures of her and her younger sister over the years.

So that is my “Family” goal for Carrie’s 40 days of Fanatical Focus.

How am I going to accomplish this amongst all the other million things going on?  I am going to use a couple of the Focus techniques I have shared with you in previous posts.  During each of the next 40 days I am going to have a Fifteen Minute Focus – it is amazing what you can accomplish in 15 minutes a day!  I will set my alarm for 15 minutes earlier than usual and use that time to get a page or two done.

Twice a week I am going to set aside time for a Power Hour – to get some real concentrated work done on the albums.

    I’m game.
    Focus: Family, well in the next 40 days I would like to have the house under control and cleaned up/ organized. So for the next 40 days we (I’m including my kids) use the 15 minutes of focus daily to organize a small space and twice a week a power hour in that room. This week we will start in the living room since that is where everything seems to happen.. I’ll definitely be adding this to the blog..

    Count me in…..!! I have to focus on getting my scrapbook room in order, with all of the new products, and ideas… I need to move some of the old things out, and in with the new….For the next 40 days, I will use the 15 minutes daily to organize my drawers, shelves and other misc things in the room that don’t belong there, and then at least once a week, spend a power hour in that room. I need room for my National Scrapbook Day Idea Boards…and Products..

    Thanks for the motivation to stay focused.
    Health – eat & exercise regularly, lose at least 15 lbs.

    Family – Work on family albums, complete at least 30 pages.

    Home – Continue the organizing of my last 3 rooms and a few cabinets.

    Business – Continue to offer exciting, productive workshops and get togethers. Update paperwork, filing.

    What great timing! With taxes out of the way I’m focusing on a few things.

    Business – catch up on posting expenses, income, etc. for both Creative Memories and Secure Innovation.

    Health – actually do the workout routine my trainer gave me. Do the routine 3x per week.

    Family – Select, print, and crop the photos for Sydney’s 3 year album from January 1, 2008 – April 23rd, 2008.

    Oh my…. I am just on a roll trying to get everything organized for all of our wedding plans coming up. BUT, I would dare say…

    Family! A kinder gentler,me!
    Health! Eat breakfast. Simple but needed.
    Home! Get organized and clear out and clean out! Send all the stuff that belongs to my married daughter home to her.

    Personal: Continue on my healthy diet changes of the past two weeks and begin walking again post shin splints. And work on my own album completion goals. So far I’m way ahead of the 208 pages in 2008 goals for the year!! I’m so excited about my progress in that area.

    Family: Set aside specific “SPECIAL HUBBY APPRECIATION TIME” something extra special in the evenings when he’s home(movies, dinners, doing things he likes to do, etc.) He does so much for me and my business.

    BUSINESS: I’ll use the next 40 days to catch up and get current on my customer phone calls. My goal will be to spend 30 – 60 minutes one day per week. My start date will be tomorrow April 18th since I’ve been out of town.
