One of the ways I have found to help keep myself focused during the day, focused on the things that are important and that I am working on, is through words of inspiration.
I start the day in my bathroom – there on my bathroom counter is a small ceramic stone with the word “focus” imprinted on it. You may remember from an earlier post my need to stay “focused” while putting on my makeup or I end up out in public with only half of it on!
Hanging in my office, on the wall, is the following word of inspiration, reinforcing my desire to be a more calm mother and wife.
Also on a shelf in my office is a brick with my favorite word – one that reminds me to try and be an inspiration as well as seek inspiration in all I do.
Next, is the laundry room (a room the whole family hopefully visits on a daily basis) where I have hung a board with the following counsel provided by the late, dear prophet of our church, President Gordon B. Hinckley
On the wall of my daughter’s room are the following words of inspiration, words I hope she will remember and internalize as she reads them daily. I want her to know that whatever she wishes and dreams can be hers if she just moves forward and does the work!
In our kitchen nook, above our table, are some words of inspiration I hope become a mantra for my children…

I love all the sayings you have. We have a very long board in our kitchen area that says… “Love is Spoken Here” from the Primary song. I have had it for almost 17 years, and I noticed that the same saying is being sold in TARGET! Just waiting to see when they get the 6 “B’s” .
I thought there were some kind of copyright… oh well, I enjoy all the inspirational sayings, and my favorite is Love is Spoken Here, because that is what we need the most around here! (giggle)
Great post
In the foyer above our french door is a board that says “Home is where your story begins” which I just love.
A similar board hangs in our living room and says “Live well. Laugh often. Love Much.” Not sure who to attribute that one to but it is a very personal favorite of mine.
I have a small ceramic easel in my bathroom that says “Time. Treasured moments that become life-long memories”
I’ve collected quotes for years and years and have them sprinkled all over my life–on bulletin boards, bookmarks, in photo albums, etc. Words have so much power in our lives!
Oh how I adore “words” as well. I too have them all over my house. I have so many favorites including Live, Love, Laugh. I love the one in your laundry room.
I love little sayings and quotes also. One of my favorites is “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
I love the “live, laugh, love” too. My kitchen has the one that says “Live life fully, Laugh every day, Love with all your heart.” I also love Mary Kay’s “If you can believe it, you can achieve it!” One more that I can think of right now (although I love to collect tons of quotes, too…) “ACTION is the foundational key to all success” from Pablo Picasso.
I have a pewter angel holding a red heart and on her dress, it says “Follow Your Heart.” I love this reminder!
I was surfing around the net for a little inspiration this morning and came across your site.
Sayings and reminders always tend to work for me, but its amazing of how I need to reminded to pay more attention to what I already have hanging up on the walls.
Your collection of inspirational phrases and reminders was a nice pick me up.
Got to get back to a better focus myself.
One of my favorite phrases was always on my mother’s fringe…
Faith is the bird that knows the dawn and signs while its still dark
I know this is a older post, but I “StumbledUpon” it and found it very relevant to me. I have a bunch of quotes of inspiration from self-help books, courses, and shared by friends. But I think my favorite is a more obscure one that I do not know the source of. Too many people reads lines/thoughts that seem profound, but don’t absorb their meaning, much less act on them. So with that “Words without deeds is dead” is near the top of my list. I guess Nike narrowed it down a little more to “Just Do It”. I would say “Think it through, sleep on it, , then do it.”
