Place butter into a light colored pan and melt over medium heat.
As butter begins to melt and foam, swirl pan or stir with a spoon or whisk.
As milk solids begin to brown and fall to the bottom of the pan and butter turns a golden brown color, remove pan from heat.
Pour butter into another bowl to stop the cooking process. Leave the majority of the dark brown milk solids in the pan.
Use brown butter in some of your favorite baked goods or pasta dishes for amazing flavor.
Using a light colored pan to make brown butter is helpful so that you can easily see the color change.
Brown butter will keep for quite a while in the refrigerator or you can freeze it in ice cube trays to use later.
