Overnight Heart Shaped French Toast

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 C milk
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 6 slices of thick French bread

Strawberry Syrup

  • 1 lb. fresh strawberries chopped. Reserve a few for garnish on top
  • 1 C sugar
  • 2 Tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp grated orange rind


  • Cut bread into heart shape using a cookie cutter
  • Mix together the first seven ingredients until well blended.
  • Place bread on a large baking sheet (with sides)
  • Pour batter over the bread. Turn the bread and make sure back side is coated as well.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in the refrigerator over night.
  • The next morning spray a skillet or frying pan with cooking spray and cook french toast until golden brown

Strawberry Syrup

  • In a medium pan combine all syrup ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer until strawberries are reduce by 1/3.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool. Place in blender and blend.
  • Return mixture to pan and cook until mixture thickens.
  • Makes about 1 1/2 cups of syrup.
