Yes, Ree and Leigh {Anne} have officially met – face to face!
Pioneer Women was in Portland yesterday for a cookbook signing at Powell Books in Beaverton. How could I pass up the chance to meet Ree – well, I couldn’t!
I arrived at the store at 4:00 p.m. to find 70 people ahead of me in line. Not bad seeing as there would be over 430 behind me in line by the time it started at 6:00 p.m! I got my ticket and took a seat to wait. I was one of the 150 lucky people that actually got to sit down!
I had fun visiting with people around me and my friend Dawn.
I even had several groups of cute ladies come up to me asking me if I was Your Homebased Mom – it was nice to be a little famous!
Here’s one of the cute girls!
Ree arrived at about 6:00 p.m. She was a little late as she got stuck in traffic – that happens in Portland. She did about 30 minutes of Q & A. She even did her Ethel Merman impersonation.
It was finally my turn up front, to meet Ree. She was just as lovely, funny and gracious in person as she is on her blog. And she had some pretty great looking boots on too!
I have to tell you though – my night, maybe even my week was made when she told me she recognized me! Yes, she had seen my picture when I was featured on her Tasty Kitchen Blog. Pioneer Women recognized me!!!!!
We had a fun little chat and I presented her with the gift I had made for her. I made her a pretty little cake plate! I hope it makes it back to Oklahoma in one piece!
When I saw this cute little rooster plate it just said “Pioneer Women” to me! Don’t you think?!
Check back tomorrow for a cake stand tutorial but in the mean time I have a giveaway for you!
I had Pioneer Women sign two books – one was my well used and stained copy of her cookbook and the other one was a brand new cookbook! The brand new cookbook is for one of you!
Look what she wrote in the book!!
So if you would like to win this autographed copy of The Pioneer Women Cooks just leave a comment below. What’s your favorite PW recipe?
Also, win an extra entry for linking to this post on your blog, via Twitter or on Facebook. Leave a separate comment for each entry.

My favorite Ree recipe? Probably Marlboro Man’s sandwich. I only made it once, but it lives in infamy at my house.
Looks like you had a delightful time.
OMG! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book – she’s one of the best blogs ever and her recipes are AWESOME!!! I especially love her recipe for the baked lemon pasta – YUMMY!!! Thanks for the chance to win this!!!
Favorite PW Recipe – I’m thinking her cinnamon rolls – makes 7 pans of the suckers!! And the mapley, mocha-ish icing. Ambrosia!
I’m so glad you were able to go and meet her – the cake plate is adorable by the way!
Heidi Marie
Wow, you are famous! Admittedly, I have never made even a single PW recipe. I know, I’ll probably be banished from blogland now. BUT, if I had the cookbook, I’m sure I’d get crackin…
Lasagna. Hands down – best. lasagna. ever.
I have to pick just one!?! I love the apple dumplings she made with mountain dew. I also love her blackberry cobbler #1 (I make it with blue berries though). I love the Pioneer Woman!
I crave her Mexican rice!
Oh hooray for you! How fun it would have been to be there to meet BOTH of you! I have to say, I absolutely LOVE your blog. I am throwing a baby “sprinkle” this Friday at my house and I’m using 2 cupcake recipes (lemon and chocolate) from your blog as well as some of your decorating ideas. THANK YOU! I can’t wait to watch the cake plate tutorial too. Thank you so much for sharing.
I have so many I want to try. Hot crash potatoes are always a favorite at our house. I would LOVE to have this book in my home! Although it probably won’t help me lose the baby weight I have been trying to get rid of:)
Oh and oops, one of my favorite recipes is the Strawberry Shortcake Cake…OH YUM!!!!!!!!
I’m a more recent member of the Pioneer Woman fanclub, so I haven’t had much time to try her recipes. We did make the Murphy’s Hot Hamburgers purely because she waxed poetic about the gravy. (Everything’s better with gravy, right?) I would love to try out more of her stuff, though!
I’ve only tried four of her recipes and the Vanilla Bean Scones are my favorite.
Meatloaf! Cinnamon rolls! <3
I have yet to try any PW recipes. I love my cookbooks, I have quite a collection and you can certainly tell which are my favorites. I would love to add hers to my “well-used” shelf!
I’m a blog stalker, but I had to post to have a chance to win this book! 🙂 I love her mashed potatoes, yummy!
Lovin’ those boots!
Crash potatoes are one of my fav’s. Her apple dumplings are a delicious indulgence. Her brisket is really good. I definitely need to explore her recipes more though.
We loved her mashed potatoes recipe last thanksgiving. I am still wanting to make those jalepeno poppers! I just need to get over my fear of possible spice level. 🙂
Ribeyes with whiskey cream sauce OMG
I would have to say her restaurant style salsa is the current favorite. My kids can eat it like there is no tomorrow. There are many we love…chicken spaghetti, chicken parmesean, orange marmalade cake, strawberry shortcake cake and many more.
Glad you got to meet Ree. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the cake plate. I want to make one!
I’d have to say cinnamon rolls, hands down. But pretty much every recipe is delish!
What fun! Congrats on meeting PW. I love to make her Beef Drip Sandwiches. I’m not sure if the recipe is in the cookbook or just on the website, but my bunch loves them. Thanks!
Two of our favorites right now are her apple dumplings and salsa. Everyone I’ve made these for has asked for the recipes. Yummy!!!
Everything I’ve made of hers is delectible! As for my favorite – Hot Crash Potatoes.
I just made the sloppy joes. It is one of my new favorites.
Made the crash hot potatoes last night —- great recipe.
Her short rib recipe. They’re out of this world! No, really!
We love her chocolate sheet cake (though I haven’t tried yours yet for a comparison…).
I am so jealous you got to meet the pioneer woman! And that cake stand is awesome! I need a cake stand, and will definitely have to check back tomorrow for the tutorial!
Oh and I would love to win an autographed book from the pioneer woman. I would send it to my mother for mother’s day. 🙂
I have been wanting to get this book for a long time now, we love her marlboro man sandwich!
I love that Pioneer Woman! I wish I could have been there to meet the both of you! 🙂 So glad you were able to go and meet her. How fun! My favorite Pioneer Woman recipe so far is her pizza crust. Our family makes homemade pizzas now with that recipe and LOVE it!
There are WAY too many to just choose one…I love her cinnamon rolls, drip beef sandwiches, chocolate sheet cake, I could go on and on and on…
I am so jealous you got to meet the pioneer woman! And that cake stand is awesome! I need a cake stand, and will definitely have to check back tomorrow for the tutorial!

And my favorite recipe of hers so far is a tie between her sour cream pancakes and her chocolate sheet cake! Or maybe the chicken spaghetti… or her chicken fried steaks… I could go on!
OK… I twittered about the giveaway! twitter.com/ohyeahthat
I am in the background of one of your photos. It was so fun meeting Ree. My favorite recipe of Ree’s has to be her chocolate sheet cake.
We love her Ranch Chicken!
I would love this book…. Please 🙂
I absolutely love your blog!!!
I just made her crumbly creamy lemon bars this weekend – they were delicious!
OMG i was soooo sad i missed her up in Seattle 🙁 Thanks for such a GREAT giveaway and the chance at a wonderful cookbook!
Love that cake plate! My favorite recipe right now is probably the restaurant salsa. I’m a bit addicted to chips & salsa, and that one is great to make with pantry items.
I LOVE her bread pudding recipe! Also, the Marlboro Man Sandwich! Yummy! Creamy Herbed Potatoes…I could go on and on, but what I would really like is her cookbook so I can stop printing the recipes off:)
You are so lucky to have met her in Portland. She hasn’t made it to Las Vegas yet. If she does, I’ll be first in line. LOVE her.
My favorite recipe, don’t laugh . . . it’s her apple dumplings. The ones with the mountain dew on them. They are YUMMY.
Please pick me. 🙂
Oh, I am so jealous! I really wanted her book for Christmas and told EVERYONE that’s what they could get me, and NO ONE did! I was a little disappointed. So, I would love to win a copy of her book.
Oh, I am so jealous! I really wanted her book for Christmas and told EVERYONE that’s what they could get me, and NO ONE did! I was a little disappointed. So, I would love to win a copy of her book.
My favorite recipe is the Chicken Parm. recipe. It tasted like it came right out of a restaurant, but I made it!
I linked up on Facebook!
My husband would be unhappy if I said anything but Marlboro Man’s sandwich!! I’m going to be reattempting her cinnamon rolls today though.
LOVE the Texas Sheet Cake Recipe (just made them this weekend for my son’s birthday… SO YUMMY) and also I love the comfort meatballs!
We love her Apple Dumplings! And love your blog!
LUCKY YOU!!! She came to SLC and I didn’t make it to her book signing 🙁
My favorite recipe is her hot crash potatoes—–and I love her beef enchiladas—–and her cinn rolls. I could just go on and on! I just love trying new food!
I LOVE her cinnamon rolls! I could eat them all day!
Her cinnamon rolls rock!
Tweeted it @mamalusco
So many favorites! Marlboro Man’s sandwich. To die for………..
I love her cinnamon rolls and the easy rosemary rolls 🙂
I would luv to meet Ree, she writes with so much humility and humor. I’m so happy for you (and to take a cute gift, classy). Ummm, choosing a favorite is tough: I’m going with the CPK BBQ chicken pizza.
Hi Leigh Anne,
That’s so cool that you got to meet PW. I bet she was impressed that you are cooking all her recipes. I love her cinnamon rolls and chicken sphagetti. Her blackberry crumble is the easiest dessert to make ever. Just finished the Postmistress and am starting the book Look again. Your cakestand is fabulous. You are so creative. Cara
I love that plate!! and I love the cinnamon rolls, who wouldn’t? thanks….Gina
When I saw her Spring signing schedule, I knew you’d be there for the Portland one:) How neat and what a nice gift you gave her. Love it, looking forward to the tutorial. One of my favorites is her BBQ Meatballs (she’s right when she says you’ll want to marry your house when it fills up with the smell of those little guys!!) with a close second being her simple fettucine alfredo…wow! Thanks!
I’ve got to admit, I can’t remember making any PW recipes right off hand, but I’m nearly certain I have. Suffice it to say that I have been hoping to make her apple dumplings for quite some time. Thanks for the giveaway and congratulations on finally meeting her (and the being recognized!)
WOW!! Lucky you to get to meet her in person. I would love a chance to win her cookbook. My favorite recipe is her apple dumplings!!!

I love the Pioneer Woman! I can’t believe Reese Witherspoon might play her in a movie – talk about a dream come true!
My current favorite recipe is her mac & cheese, but it changes all the time!
Good morning Leigh Anne! It was so much fun last night at Powell’s!! Thank you for sitting for a picture with my sister and I. : ) It turned out very cute. It was also kind of you to remember me from so many years ago. I now have my own signed copy of Ree’s cookbook but I would love another to give my mom as a gift (she lives in California and couldn’t join us last night). I would have to say one of my favorite recipes of PW’s are the Cowboy Calzones. The crust is fantastic!
Wow–what an awesome giveaway and I LOVE the cake stand! What a beautiful gift! My family loves her mashed potatoes!
I love the chicken spaghetti, and so do the three kids at my home, which is even more important!
I haven’t made any of PW’s recipes. I have, however, printed a ton of them out. I have plans for her favorite pizza recipe very soon. I’d love to add her cookbook to my huge collection!
Hi Leigh Anne! Great to meet you last night. Now I feel a little famous. Thanks for posting the picture of the two of us on your blog. It was such a fun and exciting night! Love the cake stand you made PW.
Girl in the red sweater 🙂
I haven’t tried that many yet, but her life by chocolate cupcakes are delicious!
Hello! I was at the PW event last night as well! I saw you walk past me just as I was chatting to my mom about your blog. You breezed by in your cute sweater and I said “I think that’s homebased mom!” My mom then told me to go say hi and sadly my introvert won over and I didn’t. It was fun to see you from afar, however. 🙂 And wasn’t Ree simply lovely? So kind and warm!
I haven’t tried any of P-Dubs recipes yet, but my mom is making one this week for my sister who is home visiting. I can’t wait!
PS. I cracked up when you featured a picture of Ree’s boots, my mom and I both took pics of them for our blogs as well!
I love the Pork Roast with Cranberry Sauce for Sunday dinner. I also loved the cinnamon rolls that I made to give away as Christmas gifts. I can’t make more, because I would eat way too many of them!
I know I’ve made a few of her recipes, but I can’t recall which. I am going to make her 4th of July pasta salad. It looks super yummy. And so many people like the dumplings, I’ll have to try them too.
My favorite PW recipe is drip beef. Heavens! It is SOOOO good. Changed my life. 🙂
cinnamon rolls!
oh gosh, her chocolate cake has got to be one of the greatest foods of all time!
I loved her turkey gravy tutorial last Thanksgiving. It was the first time I did gravy completely from scratch. It was the perfect complement to my dinner.
My kids (5 and 2) and hubby ate up the steak bites and crash potatoes. you would have thought they had not eaten in days 🙂
Glad you got to meet her and what a cute cake stand!

Love, love her Crispy Yogurt Chicken!! Go try it!!!
Have tried many–probably Beef Drip sandwiches–delicious!
Congrats on being recognized by Ree Drummond!! Now THAT’s something! And your beautiful gift will look perfect at her Lodge. Maybe someday you’ll see the plate in one of HER photos.
I love Pioneer Woman’s Hearty White Chili… even my picky teenager enjoys it. Of course we serve it with YOUR Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread. Yum. I don’t have her cookbook yet… but have been thinking it would be awesome to have! Sounds like you have really enjoyed your copy.
I would love to win this book and try her receipes. I have made some of yours and maybe they came from this book.

Just one favorite? Impossible! The first one that popped into my head, though, was her apple dumplings. Fast, easy, and heavenly!
How can I pick just one? Seriously! I’d have to say Ree’s Orange Rolls. My favorite.
Her recipe that I make most often is her blackberry cobbler, although I make it with all different kinds of frozen berries, including blackberry. Love it!
How did I not know Pioneer Woman was here yesterday?! Man, I’d love that book. Glad you got a good seat and congrats on your recognition – well deserved. 🙂
(one of) my favorite PW recipes – Chicken with mushrooms and artichokes. I could eat it every day!
I must be living under a rock, I didn’t know the PW was in town! UGH. I love her recipe for cinnamon rolls! Yumm-O.
Oh, btw ~ loved the Cake Plate, how cute is that?
I just linked to this post on my blog for an extra entry. I love the cake plate and am super excited to make one. Thanks for sharing.
Most favorite is The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever. – it really is the best.
But I love everything I have tried- specifically crash hot potatoes and short ribs.
I LOVE this book- checked it out from our local library and looked through it a dozen times at the book store. But I have yet to snag a copy- even though it is always on my wish list!!! Thanks for the chance to win it.
I would love her book. I just made her Chicken with Mushrooms and artichokes last night. My family loved it. I love so many of her recipes and yours too.

My favorite PW recipe is her Sheet Cake (and I’m planning on making yours soon too to compare)! Would love to win this cookbook!
I don’t need to win the book as I have my own copy already, but my favorite recipe is her apple turnovers. Maybe that’s not what she calls it, but it’s the one where you pour Mt. Dew (I used Sprite) on top of the little guys.
I would have been just as happy to have seen you at the bookstore as I would have been to see Ree (I promise I’m not stalking you!). You’re both equally famous in my book, and I think I’ve used more of your recipes than I have of hers! Besides, you’re more accessible!
Our whole family made the crash potatoes all last summer!
I would love to have the cookbook–then I wouldn’t have to run back and forth between my computer and kitchen when making a recipe! I’ve used more of your recipes, because a lot are coming to mind from your blog. 🙂 But I do like the zucchini fritters.
I have to say her Mashed potatos is my favorite. Yum yum. The family loves them.

I love the crash hot potatoes and creamed spinach!
I love the Texas sheetcake to but the cinnamon rolls and the onion strings are what I am trying next!!!
I just made her Chicken Parm recipe last night!! I love her recipes!
Pastor’s Chicken Tikka Masala, and the sushi tutorials for my hubba.
My favorite recipe of PW is Rainbow cupcakes and to wash it down with Texas Margaritas. 🙂
I love her Hot Crash Potatoes…but we are trying to stay away from carbs right now too. 🙁 The Italian Drip Beef is awesome…but it calls for making sandwiches (delish!) so I am trying to think of a different way to enjoy it with0ut eating it on a sandwich…
That is so sweet of you! I would love to win!!!! Thanks!

I’m Nancy’s Mom.
Our family’s favorite recipe is, “The Best Sheet Cake Ever”. I always made it so I could take some to a party and still have enough to leave for the children at home. I would leave the edges of the cake for them so the squares were alway perfectly shaped. I would love to share more recipes from the cookbook with my family to make up for their always getting the scraps!
My favorite is her homemade ranch dressing. So fresh and tasty!
Hands down, her Cinnamon rolls. They are delicious.
Thank you for such a wonderful website. I look forward

I can’t believe you are giving away a copy of the Pioneer Women cookbook!! I have to get me one of these. My favorite recipe so far is her hot crash potatoes. They are awesome!! I even had this book on my Christmas list and didn’t get it. If I don’t win this contest, birthday is coming up and I’ll be giving my husband either the web site or your phone number. Ha! Ha! Great article Leigh Anne!!
Just discovered PW through you. Entering the giveaway because I am looking for a little happy surprise in life, winning the cookbook would do the trick.

I am new to the Pioneer Woman Cookbook. My sister visited and made us dinner using her Tomato, Artichoke Pasta recipe. It was delicious. Never knew I would like artichokes.
I LOVE her potato recipes – I’m a potato girl all the way! I also am all about the pasta too. I would love this book!
Mashed Potatoes..yum!
The baked lemon pasta looks wonderful! Thank you for offering the book!
Oh, to just pick one of her recipes as a favorite? That’s hard! But I’ll go with the chocolate sheet cake. How can you lose with chocolate?!
Ooh, what fun! I love her stuff!
My favorite is the Lasagan!! Yum!
The Apple Dumplings covered in Mt. Dew and sugar. *faint*
The coffee cake is my all-time favorite, though I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve made!

Mashed potatoes!
My favorite recipe of Pioneer Woman’s is her ranch chicken…yum!
I never win but I would LOVE this! I love her strawberry shortcake cake!
I posted this on my blog
I made her lemon crumb bars and they were fantastic.
Maple Nut Scones are one of our favorites in this family!
That is so cool that she recognized YOU! Rock star! I love this woman. I read everything she writes and watch every show she is on. Hands down our family’s favorite recipe, but it will probably make you gag knowing your aversion, is the bacon wrapped meatloaf and the very labor intensive, but oh so worth it, mashed potatoes. You take a hunk of meat and then wrap it in 12 slices of bacon?! I thought my husband was going to ask me to marry him all over again. Honestly, I haven’t made one of her recipes that my family hasn’t liked. (Really trying to avoid the cinnamon rolls out of pure caloric fear!)
This week I made the monkey bread recipe that is actually Pastor Ryan’s recipe and it was to die for!! I have tried and loved many of PW’s recipes though.
have a chicken recipe I use of Pioneer cook. linda gerig
