Yes,  Ree and Leigh {Anne} have officially met – face to face!

Pioneer Women was in Portland yesterday for a cookbook signing at Powell Books in Beaverton.  How could I pass up the chance to meet Ree – well, I couldn’t!

I arrived at the store at 4:00 p.m. to find 70 people ahead of me in line.  Not bad seeing as there would be over 430 behind me in line by the time it started at 6:00 p.m!  I got my ticket and took a seat to wait.  I was one of the 150 lucky people that actually got to sit down!

Pioneer Woman

I had fun visiting with people around me and my friend Dawn.

Pioneer Woman

I even had several groups of cute ladies come up to me asking me if I was Your Homebased Mom – it was nice to be a little famous!
Here’s one of the cute girls!

Pioneer Woman

Ree arrived at about 6:00 p.m.  She was a little late as she got stuck in traffic – that happens in Portland.  She did about 30 minutes of Q & A.  She even did her Ethel Merman impersonation.

Pioneer Woman

It was finally my turn up front, to meet Ree.  She was just as lovely, funny and gracious in person as she is on her blog.  And she had some pretty great looking boots on too!
Pioneer Woman

I have to tell you though – my night, maybe even my week was made when she told me she recognized me!  Yes, she had seen my picture when I was featured on her Tasty Kitchen Blog.  Pioneer Women recognized me!!!!!

Pioneer Woman

We had a fun little chat and I presented her with the gift I had made for her.  I made her a pretty little cake plate!  I hope it makes it back to Oklahoma in one piece!

ROOSTER CAKE PLATE

When I saw this cute little rooster plate it just said “Pioneer Women” to me!  Don’t you think?!

ROOSTER CAKE PLATE

Check back tomorrow for a cake stand tutorial but in the mean time I have a giveaway for you!

I had Pioneer Women sign two books – one was my well used and stained copy of her cookbook and the other one was a brand new cookbook! The brand new cookbook is for one of you!

Look what she wrote in the book!!

My favorite Ree recipe? Probably Marlboro Man’s sandwich. I only made it once, but it lives in infamy at my house.

Looks like you had a delightful time.

Favorite PW Recipe – I’m thinking her cinnamon rolls – makes 7 pans of the suckers!! And the mapley, mocha-ish icing. Ambrosia!
I’m so glad you were able to go and meet her – the cake plate is adorable by the way!

I am throwing a baby “sprinkle” this Friday at my house and I’m using 2 cupcake recipes (lemon and chocolate) from your blog as well as some of your decorating ideas. THANK YOU! I can’t wait to watch the cake plate tutorial too. Thank you so much for sharing.

I’m a more recent member of the Pioneer Woman fanclub, so I haven’t had much time to try her recipes. We did make the Murphy’s Hot Hamburgers purely because she waxed poetic about the gravy. (Everything’s better with gravy, right?) I would love to try out more of her stuff, though!

You breezed by in your cute sweater and I said “I think that’s homebased mom!” My mom then told me to go say hi and sadly my introvert won over and I didn’t. It was fun to see you from afar, however. 🙂 And wasn’t Ree simply lovely? So kind and warm!

I haven’t tried any of P-Dubs recipes yet, but my mom is making one this week for my sister who is home visiting. I can’t wait!

That is so cool that she recognized YOU! Rock star! I love this woman. I read everything she writes and watch every show she is on. Hands down our family’s favorite recipe, but it will probably make you gag knowing your aversion, is the bacon wrapped meatloaf and the very labor intensive, but oh so worth it, mashed potatoes. You take a hunk of meat and then wrap it in 12 slices of bacon?! I thought my husband was going to ask me to marry him all over again. Honestly, I haven’t made one of her recipes that my family hasn’t liked. (Really trying to avoid the cinnamon rolls out of pure caloric fear!)
