Happy Monday!
I am going to start the week off with a fun little organizational tip! Every once in a while that organizational bug bites.
I love texture, fabric, paper, yarn, and especially ribbon!
Last week as I was attempting to clean up the craft room (aka the boys room) I discovered that I had a problem. Too much ribbon. I love ribbon! My craft room was getting cluttered with spools of ribbon so I decided I need to get it organized.
I found this great ribbon organizing tip over at Tip Junkie. It was shared by Kitchen Klique.
As soon as I saw it I knew it was the solution to my ribbon problem!
All you need are some pant hangers.
I only bought two to start with and because of my addiction I need to get a few more!
Not only is it a great way to organize your ribbon but I just love the way it looks. I also color coded mine so it looks pretty too!!
I must confess – this is my craft ribbon. All my present wrapping ribbon is stashed under my bed – now I need to find a way to organize it! Most of that ribbon is those large spools of ribbon from Costco. They are too big to fit on the hanger – any ideas?

Thanks for sharing this great idea! I too have a ribbon obsession and need a good organizing solution!

Hi. This is the same system that I use and I also mainly have the large Costco ribbon. If you gently work the bars that aren’t being used forward and back you can remove them. Then the Costco size spools fit perfectly on the remaining two bars! 🙂

http://www.ribbonring.com has an interesting product for hanging pieces of ribbon not on spools. Life’s a Scrapbook in Sherwood, Oregon sells them if you’re local.

How about some big clear glass jars. That way they would look pretty and be decoration too. I have bought some inexpensive jars at Target and Crate and Barrel that I use in my kitchen for flour, sugar etc. that would work.

Love this idea. My problem is that half my ribbon is on spools and half is not. There is an amazing ribbon outlet in Maryland that sells bags of large amounts of un-rolled ribbon for 35 cents. So I need something that will store all of my ribbon- on a roll or not. Any suggestions for that?

this one was so clever, I sent the link to my friend who loves ribbon.

You are a genius. Pure genius. I have a few of those hanging around (no pun intended). I have used them for my tablecloths but what a great way to get my ribbon back in order. Right now, I have rolls and rolls of ribbon in drawers.
I am somewhat of a ribbon fanatic. Love ribbon. Have a hard time staying away from those big beautiful rolls over at Costco.

I probably shouldn’t throw this out there since many of you have an obsession with ribbon, but here goes… If you know of a friend or neighbor who works for Michael’s craft stores in the Irving, TX headquarters area, ask them about the employee sales. I know of a couple of people who told me the employees are often invited to sales where they are allowed to load up on anything that is no longer in the stores. They can buy large paper grocery sacks full of anything that will fit inside for about a $1 to $5. That means you could buy rolls and rolls of ribbon for all of your projects for next to nuthin’. Being a professional organizer, it sounds like more clutter to me, unless you are actually going to use it! In that case, I say “Shop on, girls!!!”

So much easier to organize ribbon when you don’t own any. Seriously. I have a baggie of those premade bows for Christmas and that’s it.
I’m SOOOO not crafty! 😀

love the hanger idea… for larger ribbon I use a shoe box with a slit cut out for the ribbon to peak through… or a paper towel holder either a wall mounted style or a counter stand up style…
