I am a lover of words!
I have shared with you before many of the words I have around my house. Words that help me stay focused on what is really important – words of inspiration.
Last week I spent four days in COLD Minnesota. It actually got to 30 BELOW ZERO with the wind chill one day!! One of the highlights of my trip was spending some time with my friend Susan in her beautiful and warm home on the banks of the frozen and snowy Mississippi River.
As Susan took me on a tour through her home I began to notice that Susan is also a lover of words. Throughout her home she had many words of inspiration. Because abundance is another of my favorite words I loved this piece of artwork!
and then there was this one….
Susan had words of inspiration scattered everywhere.
On the dining room table….
in the guest bedroom….
in the bathroom….
and the windowsill….
In fact her husband asked her if they could have some art work in the house that didn’t tell him what to do! My friend Sherra calls it “bossy art!”
Besides scattering words of inspiration around my house I like to wear my word!
I was so excited when I discovered this wonderful website – Simply Ornamental.
Christina makes beautiful custom hand stamped jewelry. What better way to remember your word than on a beautiful necklace!
I am excited to be able to offer this wonderful Your Word Giveaway that Christina has so graciously agreed to sponsor.
To win one of Christina’s beautiful necklaces with your word on the necklace just enter a comment below by letting me know what word you want on your necklace.
I will definitely be ordering a necklace with my word on it – Joy!
The necklace is valued at $27.00
Meet Christina:
I am a stay at home mother with two energetic boys. I love to sew, read, paint my toes, and watch movies. With being a mom I tend to feel like there is hardly ever anything concrete to show for my day, so I like being able to make jewelry and quilts to have something that can’t be undone
Starting a business looked like a fun way to be able to support the hobbies.
Just leave a comment below with your word by midnight PST on Friday, January 23rd and I’ll have a random drawing to choose the winner and announce the random winner on Saturday, January 24th

My word would be BELIEVE.
What a beautiful necklace thanks for the contest.
I love your friend’s Gratitude painting. beautiful.
My word for the necklace would be “grace.”
Beautiful creations. I love her art.
I would use our family word “finish” or my word “seek.”
You already commented on my post about my word for the year: “centered”. Funny thing, today I was going to post about putting opposites words around my house for some reverse psychology. Like instead of “Simplify”, “Complicate” and see if that worked any better for me!
My word would be “Gratitude”. It’s something my husband and I have tried very hard to instill in our 3 sons and our own hearts as well.
I can think of a ton of words that I would need. But, Patience is probably the most important one for me!
I don’t wear much jewelry, but these look just beautiful. What a great idea! My word would be “love”. Thanks for a fun giveaway!!
I am a word lover, too! My word for 2009 is “CONNECT”. I’m striving to connect with my family, friends, and community. Taking good care of myself so that I can reach out to others.
I love “bossy art”!
I would have JOY on my necklace.
I would like the word “prayer”
My word is “intentional” – I am trying to be very intentional about all aspects of my life and not just wandering thorugh life.
My word is “intentional” – I try to be very intentional in all aspects of my life; I don’t want to just wonder through life. Thanks!
Those are beautiful. It is hard for me to choose just one word but I would go with TRUST.
My favorite word is “joy” and that was my word for 2008. This year I’m choosing “live” as my word as I really need to learn to live in the moment and not dwell on the past or worry about tomorrow.
My word would be TRUST. It is my word for this year as we are facing some major changes in our lives and I’m needing to really trust God through all of it. Thanks for a fun contest.
What a nice idea. My word would probably be GIVE.
If I were to get one of these, I’d like it to say “Peace.”
Love
Faith
JOY
Playful.
A friend mentioned Playful was her “word” for last year, and I think it’s a great one. Her church has them draw a word from a basket each year to focus on. It’s so different from the usual hope, joy, love….And I think a lot of those other words will be there if you are playful.
)
My word for the year is Gratitude! I have so many things to be grateful for. I am so grateful for my wonderful husband a home which we love a s
ecure job which is a treat these days, but this year I am especially grateful for the family I have always wanted. I have five beautiful healthy children and that has always been my dream. Last year we had our fifth child and he spent some time in the NICU and it was a scary time, he was really sick. Throughout that whole expierence though I felt such gratitude for these sweet spirits that have blessed our lives.
My word for this year is FAITH.
Have faith in what is to come and the courage to accept what he gives me.
I love the necklace you’ve pictured…HOPE is the exact word I would choose! There is always room for Hope.
This necklace is so pretty. Thank you for the giveaway! My word would be HOPE.
I always have to remind my family that words are our friend…use them. My word is Joy.
What a beautiful reminder! And how inspiring to see the pictures from your friend’s home. The word I would love to use is EMBRACE. Thank you!
My word is Faith. Faith is a daily walk, Faith that tomorrow will come, Faith that he won’t take my husband HOME, Faith that children is still close by even if they are 1,000’s of miles away. Faith that my business will keep going even in hard times. Faith that my church family still loves me.
My word would be LOVE. Thank you for a great giveaway!
Beautiful artwork. If I won, I would give this piece to our pastor’s wife. I would have the letters WWJD stamped into the metal.
I would want one with the word JOY. I love the quote “find joy in the journey”. Thanks for the great giveaway.
My word for this year is LIGHTEN. By definition, it means to “make light, illuminate or brighten” – and that’s exactly what I’d like bring to each situation I encounter. Whether it’s by ignoring the to-do list and playing with my kids more…or by having more thoughtful conversations with my husband..or even by just doing more casual entertaining for friends in our home – I am going to strive to make things lighter and brighter this year. And I would also love to LIGHTEN the load of “stuff” in my home by cleaning out and donating the things I no longer need or use. So LIGHTEN is definitely the word I’d choose.
My word is SUMMER because it reminds me of these words by Albert Camus ”
“In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.”
These words got me through five years of infertility and gave me the courage to keep my joyful spirit, and adopt four kids! Now, many years later, I still feel deeply comforted just by the word Summer.
These are so cute, I might just get one anyway! I would love to have the word “Hope” or “Family”
My word is Blessings. 2008 was a hard year but each time I felt myself going down, I would focus on a single blessing in my life at that moment. Sometimes it felt like the only blessing was waking up that day. But it was still a blessing I had.
I would choose JOY as that is my middle name and my husbands favorite pet name for me. It always makes me smile
My word is Fabulous.
I love this website! My word is “strength.”
I would choose “Hope”….hope for change, hope for the future and all I hope for my children.
I would definitely choose the word Miracles for my necklace. I believe in them heart and soul. I have witnessed more than a few and hope to witness a few more.
I would also do JOY- because of the craziness of our world today, there is still so much to be happy about.
My word is Believe. I have it all over my house, and at Christmas time it’s all over my tree as well.
My word would have to be LOVE because it describes everyone in my life and what they mean to me. I have learned in my long 33 years of life that life is to short to be so “grudgemental”, and that we need to just love everyone and live everyday like it is our last!
Imagine. Would love it on a necklace! What a cute giveaway.
Shelley Smith
I would love win this—-my one word would be hope—
Mandy Warix
My “word” has always been “E.D.I.L.Y.M.” for “Each Day I Love You More”. It’s our family’s secret code.
“Laugh” I think if we remember to “laugh often” life could just be a little easier. And if you are laughing you probably aren’t worried about the laundry, dirty dust boards, and an unmade bed.
Oooooh, I can’t decide!! So many great words to choose from. Either “courage” or “imagine” would be my top picks, I think.
STRENGTH
HOPE
My word would be LOVE. It’s all emcompassing!
Thanks for the opportunity! My choice would be GRATITUDE.
My word for the year is “Believe.” This sums up so much of my life, if I believe, I will have faith and if I have faith, I will have peace. Thanks for the great giveaway! The necklace is beautiful.
My word would be Love to represent finding Love within oneself which took me a long time and 80 lbs to do but I have found the love I have towards myself and towards others and I would love to share that
My word is truth this year. Especially with my weight. Thanks for the contest!
My word would be cherish. Thanks for offering this and I love your blog!!!
My word is Nurture, for my family, friends and myself. love your website
I need to be better this year –
My word is REACH
My word would be “Endure” because some days it is all I can do. If I can endure to the end…I will have peace.
You have really made me think today. What one word can I use to describe what I want to do this year. I think Relax. I shouldn’t sweat the small stuff. Go with the flow. Keep moving forward. (being the mother of an adopted son who has FAS and everyday is a challenge I need to remember to “Relax”.)
Our family’s word for the year is “Joy.” We’ve asked them to remember, Jesus, Others, Yourself.
My word for this year is “love.”
Patience is my word. I want more and more and more of it.
Cherish. Great giveaway!
Like you, my word is JOY. I just recently read an article about finding joy in the journey. I think that was good for me. I need to remember to find joy in every day.
I have so many words to choose from that I would want. My top three are “Gratitude”, “Grace” and “Faith”. I am a word lover as well and love the idea of “bossy art”. I think I need some in my home!!!
My word for 2009 is grace.
My word for the year is “Create”! It is what I love to do… be it Graphic Design, a craft project, a new recipe I come up with –as long as I can “Create” I am truly happy!
This year I am striving to have more HEALTH in body and spirit. THANKS for your fabulous give aways. . . . .and introducing us to amazing creative people.
This year my word is PEACE. I am working on PEACE of mind, PEACE of heart and PEACE of spirit.
I get to be the first to say “giggle”
hi leigh anne…my word for the year is STRENGTH because i have some tough decisions to make and i think i am going to need a lot of strength within myself to make them…what a wonderful thing you’ve done to inspire us all to think!
Inspire in my word for this year. I hope that I can inspire others with what I have to give. I know that I will be inspired by others as I do each day, my children, family, friends, aunts, sisters and husband.
My word would be BLESSED!
This is fun. I hope I win!
GRACE is the word that comes to my mind at this point in my life.
What beautiful pieces. As a teacher my word would be INSPIRE.
Ransomed
A perfect way to be reminded daily 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Thanks for the opportunity.
Joy or Love
blessed
My word is definetly faith!
CHARITY; LOVE;FAITH; HOPE; It will be hard to decide. Thanks for this opportunity!
My word is CELEBRATE.
My word would have to be FAITH. Besides the religous tone, I also always have a lot of faith in people in general. Sometimes it’s good, other times not so good.
Thanks for the chance!
Oh wow, beautiful necklace! My 2009 word is LESS but I think if I got the necklace I would put STRENGTH on it- I need so much of that to achieve some of the goals that I have (concerning the LESS!)
Love those words. I only have a few around my house and they mostly have to do with my cats. I breed Abyssinians. My favorite cat saying is “when all else fails, pet the cat” and i do. My word for 2009 is “believe”. I want to believe all good things are possible and that we are on a path to a better place. This word conjures up my favorite Christmas design which is a Santa with the word “believe” all in bright colors. Since we’ve just come thru the holidays this word has been on my mind. Believe!
I would have to go with the word JOY, also! It can be tricky to find joy daily. If I had a second word it would be SEASON. There is a season for everything. A necklace would be a good reminder of what my “season” is right now, and that your season is always changing. Finding joy in the season we are in is what it is all about!
It would be a toss up for me. I think I would love to see a necklace with Trust. It would remind me to trust God and not sweat the little things–or the big things either. My other new word is FLY. I am striving to Finally Love Yourself in all aspects of my life including the chaos in my home–which I am systmatically working through.
After reading all the wonderful words, mine would Reckless. To remind me to recklessly love my kids, love my husband, be reckless in being grateful!
My word would be Hope. It seems to be the theme in my life.
Hmmmmm, for me I ahve many words and I too am a word person. This year I want to say connect, but actually I thinkI would choose 2-BE, while not a word, but rather a phrase it does have meaning. I will choose to be….
I would like Faith on my necklace!
Carla
cpullum(at)yahoo(dot)com
FAITH…for so many reasons!!!
KIM
I had a lot of fun reading others words and their reasons why. I think JOY would be my choice, but it was hard to narrow it down. Fun contest!
Thank you for wanting to offer such a great gift…my word is, family. I deeply love mine and think of them always.
What a fun way to use words that mean so much to us. I choose the word, family. I deeply love mine and think of them always.
My word would be Faith.
This year I especially need my faith reminding me that God is still in control. Thanks for a fun contest!
This is tough! To pick ONE word… I’m going to go with “FEARLESS.” Fear can keep you from being your best self, your true self. Lovely necklace.
I would choose Joy or Faith. Very fitting at this point
in my life.
It’s a joy to have you share your joy.
THANKS
My word would be Dream…
I love drawings! There are so many words to choose from. I would like unity. We need some of that in our family
Enough…it’s my word this year.
I had to comment so I could be #100. Woo-hoo, way to go Leigh Anne!!
hmmm. my first thought is HOPE but I think I would really like Gratitude. We have a Gratitude Journal that we write in every night with our little ones. We’re trying to teach them young to be grateful. It seems Gratitude and Hope go hand in hand. Gratitude to recognize the things you have and Hope to move forward and make life better. Or something like that. I really do have a way with words! (sounds better in my head, I’m sure someone out there gets me!)
Thanks for the opportunity to play.
How beautiful! I would love one with the word Praise! When I remember to praise the Lord in all things it is hard to dwell in the sorrow of things around me.
One question Where did your friend get those pictures you showed with Abundance and Gratitude on them. I love them!!!
The jewelry is just beautiful! I would have the word ‘Cherish’ inscribed on the piece as a reminder to STOP and take the time to cherish every moment with my girls.
My word is also Joy. Finding joy in my family, myself, the day-to-day of life.
i dont live in the US.. im actually from canada but i just wanted to let you know that i absolutely LOVE your blog. im single and live on my own. i have used a ton of your recipies and again LOVE them. i have recently lost my job of 10 years and am starting school all over again at the age of 27. so if i lived in the US and was able to win my word would be “OPORTUNITIES”

The abundance and gratitude prints came from Pier One – I want them for myself too!
I love it! I think my word would be “peace” because even when everything is in upheavel in my life, I’m fine as long as I have peace.
My word would have to be peace!
I love the idea of choosing a word to focus on during the year. I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately and it’s so hard to choose just one. But, I think I have decided on “nurture”. There are a lot of things in my life right now that need nurturing, including myself! Thanks for the great idea and the great give-aways!
My word would be inspire. There are so many wonderful women out there who inspire me with all that they do in their lives.
Thanks for sharin’…what beautiful jewelry!!! My word would be “Winner”.
My word would be IMAGINE. Thank you so much for the great website and the fun contest!
My word is LAUGHTER. I can’t imagine my life without it! It makes my soul happy to laugh and have found that it is my saving grace when life gets tough. If I couldn’t find the humor in things I’m not sure what kind of person I would be, but my guess is that I wouldn’t be very happy.
Your necklaces are absolutely beautiful…..thanks for the contest.
I love these beautiful necklaces. I would have to choose between two words: hope, and family. Hope because my father in law has cancer and we can only hope for the best. Family because they are everything to me. What a great way to be reminded of the important things by a simple word.
I have one of two words that would need to be chosen.
Trust or Gratitude. ;0) My words for the year.
Focus… I’m easily distracted and my plan is to focus on a few priorities for 2009
Content or Contentment…. not complacent but content with what I have and who I am, knowing I really have all I need and any additional is just a bonus.
Amazing…I used to whisper in my baby’s ear “You are amazing” over and over. She was battling a stage 4 cancer at the time and is has now been off treatment for almost 3 years
My word would be “Relax” the Lord is in charge!
My word is most definitely “Dedicate”. At least that is what I am trying to make of this year, to be dedicated to all things GOOD.
I would definitely want one that says STORY or THRIVE. I hope I win!
But whether or not I win, I think I want to buy some of these for my leaders. After your post about One Word, I had them all come up with a word for themselves for the year and we shared them on a conference call. I would love to get each one of them one of these made with their own word on it. Nice find Leigh Anne!
My word would be blessed or relax. It’s so hard to choose!
Joy
I have been thinking for a few days about what my word should be for the year. I keep coming back to “JOY” also, so I guess it’s what it must be! I love the idea of being able to “wear it”! Such a pretty piece of jewelry! Great giveaway – thanks for offering!

My word is BREATHE…sometimes I get so caught up in the TO DO list that I forget to slow down and just breathe!
Thanks!

My word is FAMILY. There is nothing more important.

Breathe
I am not sure why I am entering–you already have sooo many people–but I just can’t help but hope that I could win that darling necklace! My word would be grace. I will have to check out her site. Thanks for sharing!
Only one word! Hmmm, that’s a difficult one. I can think of so many that mean so much. But I think CHERISH is my word. Cherish family and friends as if you may not have them tomorrow.
Thank you!
I LOVE having words/phrases around my house, they are a great way to have constant reminders to your entire family of things that matter most, day in and day out.
Deciding on one word is a hard one but I think I have narrowed mine down to DREAM, because you can only accomplish the extent of your dreams…so dream big! Glad I stumbled upone your blog today!
What a lovely concept! My word would be REMEMBER, as it reminds me of so much: “Remember who you are, remember what’s most important in life, remember to get on your knees and pray, remember to be grateful and good, remember the little people in your life, remember God’s in charge” and on and on! I’m love the “bossy art.” Thank you!
Hi! Cute blog! My sister sent me your link and I am happy she did. Can’t wait to read your archives. Thanks for the giveaway! So fun!
My word would be “Moments” as that is the theme of my blog. I love to inspire others to cherish every moment they have.
Thanks again!!!
My word is BALANCE
its what I strive for daily!
It’s a great concept, this one word reminder. I think mine would be ENJOY. I spend too much time fretting over things to remember to be involved.
That is so hard to think of just one word, but I guess mine would have to be LOVE. Very pretty things!
My word for 2009 is “savor”.
My word would probably be Dance! It reminds me to not worry about the storm to be thankful for the rain!! Just look for something good in all situations, because if you look hard enough you will find it.
