Your Homebased Mom Turns Four!

It’s hard to believe but this blog is four years old today.  I wrote my first post on August 13, 2007.

My blog had a little different tone and direction back them but it has been fun to watch how my blog has evolved over the last four years.

To be honest, there are days when I have what I call  a “blogging crisis.”  I wonder if all the work, time and effort I put into the blog is really worth it.  Is anyone really reading it?  But then I receive a nice comment or email from one of you that something I shared has helped you or made a difference for you and I am encouraged to keep writing and sharing.  I have discovered that I have some pretty amazing and wonderful blog readers who have become “virtual friends” as well as “real life friends.”

Because you know what?  I am having fun!    So as long as I’m having fun I’ll keep sharing my journey to finding the pretty and delicious in life.  Thanks for reading these past four years!

Hi – I’m Leigh Anne! I have been a homebased mom for 30 years since my first baby boy was born! I love working with women and helping to inspire them to achieve their goals and dreams while still maintaining motherhood and family as their number one priority. I blog about everything I enjoy – creating treats and meals in my kitchen, spending time in my garden, entertaining and party planning, reading, self improvement and tips and ideas on style and fashion.

    Happy Blogger-versary, Leigh Anne!
I love reading your blog… truly brightens my day! It’s always fun to try your yummy recipes and use those organizational tips you so readily share. I also enjoy reading your book reviews and hearing all about your family activities. Our children are in the same age group, so I totally relate to your “empty nest” syndrome. I totally recommend Lisa Scottoline’s book, “My Nest Isn’t Empty, It Just Has More Closet Space” it’s a hoot! Thank you for the newsletters as well, although I don’t think that I received all six…..are these archived somewhere? Keep on blogging & enjoy your weekend!

Leigh Anne, I started reading your blog back in October 2007. Though we lead very different lives, you make me want to be excellent in what I do, because of your exellence in what you do. Thank you for all the inspiration over the years.

I agree with Sarah – you inspire us all to reach higher and be better by what you do and who you are. Thanks, Leigh Anne (and Sarah!)

Leigh Anne, I so enjoy reading your blog!! We lived in the Portland area after we were first married (29 years ago)…have an empty nest for two years which I still find myself adjusting to! I have two daughters in college. I have visited many times over the past year or so…for a recipe, or what to do in Portland, or just to see what’s new in your life. My blog is mostly centered on my craft, hand-stamped cards…and sharing my faith. Maybe someday I will expand to recipes and photography.
Thanks for sharing all you do…keeping it pretty and delicious!!

Leigh Anne, Happy Anniversary! I love your blog. I check it nearly every day. I have made several of your recipes and they have become family favorites. For a 4th of July party I made four different kinds of cupcakes from your blog ~ chocolate peanut butter, lime, lemon, and oreo. They were a hit! Thanks for all you do.

Wow 4 years – hard to believe. Congrats! I’ve been reading since the beginning and have enjoyed every minute of it. You’re blog has enriched my life in general and many times has provided me that smile that I needed. Add to it the recipes, the how-to’s, the ideas, the kids classes, you rock and I’m glad our paths have crossed!

Happy blogger-versary! You’ve made a difference in our home (and our tummies!) Your blog is the first I started following and it’s always a highlight when I see a new post. I appreciate your thoughts and honesty on becoming an empty nester. I have 2 of my 4 out of the house, and the other 2 will be out in the next few years. I am learning from your exapmle how to prepare myself for this. (who told my kids they could grow up and leave me, anyway?!) we’ve even started a few new traditions because of you (as a military family, I have found traditions to be so important in helping to keep our family close and unified) so, from my family, Team Laws, THANK YOU for a WONDERFUL blog! :)

I adore your blog! I don’t often commet as I think I don’t have anything interesting enough to say… but I always read and feel you are a part of my life. The warmth and values of home, family and great food are an echo of my own heart’s values. I love making so many of your recipes… yes, I have made a huge percentage of them. My friends love my cookbook that I update every time you share a recipe. One friend asked me to see it last week and took pictures of it. She said… “You even have a category for cupcakes!” Well, of course!!! Thank you for sharing your life with us! May you be richly blessed for all you share!

Yours was one of the first blogs I ever actually started to “follow”. Years ago I read a book called, “Celebration! Ten Principles of More Joyous Living”, by Jaroldeen Asplund Edwards. It became one of only a few books in my life that I’ve ever read, then re-read, and re-read again…and again…etc. It always lifted my spirit and gave me such empowerment to be a better woman, in all my roles. You are like that book for me. You inspire and enhance the world by who you are and what you do. It’s like you accessorize the space around you just by being it. Thanks for doing that so we can all benefit!

I love your reading your blog. I’ve made so many things you have posted, both crafts and recipes. My husband already knows the answer to what we’re having for dinner most nights, “whatever your homebased mom is having” 😉

I love reading your blog and I love your recipes! We have made so many of your recipes and all have been so wonderful! Just this week we have had your herbed shrimp (second time), Italian sodas (more times than we can count and such a fun alternative for kids at parties), and we made your overnight waffles and cinnamon syrup this morning (and loved both). I have you bookmarked at the top of my blogs that I follow regularly. So Happy Anniversary and know that you are appreciated! Here’s to many more years!
