Engage –

It reminds me to engage in life. To focus outward instead of inward, tune in to those around me and spend some time on things that bring me joy. (And it makes me think of Captain Jean Luc Picard ordering me to, “Engage” – I stop procrastinating and get moving!)

So yesterday I shared with you my 2013 Word of the Year.  Today you get to share yours!

Each year I make a pillow with my Word of the Year on it.  I put it front and center on my bed each day and it helps me to remember what my focus is for the year.

This is great cause it made me think about what I should focus on this year. For me that would be the word Grateful. Like your word from last year. I need to be grateful for my blessings and not let the things that I don’t have in my life matter to me.

My phrase for the year is Worth It! So many things that I consistently put off for myself because I somehow believe that I don’t deserve it and am not worth it – so I need the daily reminder that I am worth it and that the sacrifices and hard work it will take to do hard things for myself are also worth it.

My word(s) for the year are going to be Trust in The Lord. Sometimes it is hard for me to remember that The Lord has a plan for me and I need to trust in Him. This pillow would help me remember that daily.

Wow! This required a lot of thought. I appreciated everyone’s comments.
I think I need to choose: BE PRAYERFUL…
because then everything else would fall into it’s correct priority. And I’d be more able to Quickly Observe and then Go Serve.

My word of the year would have to be Divine. It reminds me that we all have a spark of the Divine in us; and that it’s important to honor the Divine in others!

I just decided yesterday that my focus this year is to live in the moment. I just turned 50, and feel like I’ve never really relaxed, waiting for something… I just want to learn to slow down and BE instead of being expectant. So my words for this year are “life is now here” . Take care.

    Endurance
After my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer, I found solace in God’s Word. I know the prize that awaits me if only I have the endurance to run the race and not flag. I am trying to encourage him to have that same endurance as he fights for his life. Thanks for a reminder of God’s unfailing love!

    Jessica H says:

My word for the year is Simplicity. I complicate my life by giving myself too much to do and I don’t alwaysspend my time on the things that are most important. By focusing on simplicity, I hope to help myself to refocus, to lose the stress and find peace in everyday life.

    Harlene says:

I look forward to this each year now as well. I too have put so much thought in to my “word”. I needed it to be both comforting on the challenging days, as well as, inspiring me to consistently improve. I have chosen KNOW. From the scripture, “Be still and know that i am God, to the good advice I received “When disillusioned, go back to what you know for sure. To the words from a talk at church “A mother who knows, does.”

  20. 170
    Vicki says:

Grace….I need to receive it more, and show it more:)

  21. 171
    Jill says:

“Be still” would be my word. I need to remember to give Him time to guide my time. He’s willing – I need to be ready.
