I just had to share with you what Santa brought me this year…. you see when I was a kid (in the 1970’s) there was an older couple who went to our church – Dolores and Karl Schaffer. They were quite old – in their 80’s but they were amazing people, full of life and energy. They had a tandem bike which they rode all over town and on road trips – pretty amazing for their age. When they finally decided they were too old for the bike they gave it to my parents. It was a big, old, heavy bike and my folks didn’t keep it very long – gave it to someone else at church.
For some reason -I have always loved the idea of a tandem bike and have often thought about how I would love to own one. I have mentioned this “dream” at various times, over the years, to my husband. Well, dreams do come true. Since my husband and I weren’t exchanging gifts this year I woke up Christmas morning to a note from Santa, along with a new bike helmet - telling me to look in the garage. And there, in all it’s glory, was a red, Huffy “Daisy” tandem bike from the 1970’s – in beautiful condition! I love it!! Because we actually had snow on Christmas day I didn’t get to do more than ride it up and down the street once but I can’t wait to take “Daisy” for a ride!! Thank you Santa!!
