CAUTION: This blog post comes with a warning. You may put on weight just reading this post! There are a lot of pictures in this post – mainly because they were all so PRETTY I couldn’t choose!! Pretty, pretty, pretty is all I can say and then of course there is yummy!!!
Our favorite Farmer’s Market to go to each Saturday is the Beaverton Farmer’s Market. But several times each summer we make a visit to the Portland Farmer’s Market in downtown Portland on the Park Blocks.
The main reason we go is for The Tart Lady.
Not only are her tarts yummy – everything about her booth and food is so PRETTY!!! You know how I feel about pretty. Not only is it a feast for the tummy it is definitely a feast for the eyes!
The Tart Lady always has a line – I would stand in her line and wait even if I couldn’t buy anything because her booth and presentation is so amazingly PRETTY!! I do highly recommend though standing in line for one or more of her yummy tarts – it is worth the wait!
I don’t even know where to start. Maybe I should start with the tarts! This was the daily selection the Saturday I was there.
I had a hard time choosing between the mixed berry crumb…
the Le Vanilla Raspberry tart…
They even looked pretty before she got them on the serving piece! I would have eaten one right off the cookie sheet!
and then there was the pecan tart….which one to choose???
So I didn’t choose – I bought one of each. And then there were the savory tarts!
All kinds of fun, interesting and unique combinations. We bought one of those too. And that is just for the tarts. I haven’t gotten to the cookies yet!
the other tarts….
the scones….
and all the amazing other wonderful things the Tart Lady has to offer!!
So are you drooling yet….????
The prettiness of all of this just makes me want to cry! How can just looking at pretty food make me so happy?!
The Tart Lady’s booth has a hard plastic barrier around it – I am sure it is there to keep people from drooling on the food!!!
After making our purchases we found a nice shady spot to sit down and we ate every last crumb!!
Pretty, pretty, pretty and yummy too!!!
So now that I have you all in the mood for yummy tarts does anyone have a tart recipe to share? I think I need to make some tarts? Recipes please!

Love, love, love it. I visit the Beaverton Farmer’s Market often. I have never been to the Portland Farmer’s market although I don’t know why not. It would be an easy stop on the way to Saturday’s Market which I frequent often. Thanks for the encouragement.
Everything looks so good! I’m officially hungry, even though I wasn’t before I read this!! I’ll be checking back for tart recipes, hopefully you’ll get some good ones!
Thanks for awakening my taste buds this early a.m. WOW! You captured some fantastic pictures–can’t wait to come visit you and go to the Farmer’s Markets. . . . .WOW! My dear friend Kim has made tons of tarts, so I’ve e-mailed her for her recipe. THANKS AGAIN!
A feast for the eyes. I’ll be checking back for tart recipes because for some reason I feel a strong urge to make and devour one or two!
These ARE pretty! It makes me think, “Oh! I could maybe make some of those!” and then I’m inspired to go make a mess in the kitchen. Yum Yum!
Now I am wishing I would have gone to the Portland Market!! Wow, those looked sooo yummy!
Wow, the Tart Lady should pay you to do marketing for her. I know if I lived anywhere near this, I would seek her out.
Wow! I don’t think there is anything there that I DIDN’T want to eat! So how does one lady cook all that up? Because I can’t keep up with all the bread baking my own brood demands of me!
Oh guess what? Kate read your mind. She has an awesome tart scheduled next week!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
That makes me want to venture out to Portland myself. I’ll have to check outthe Tart Lady myself! You really should write a book.
