Wedding Cake Buffet

Wedding Cake Buffet

I have been so excited to share this post with you. This event was so fun to do and I love the way it turned out but I wanted to wait until I had shared all of my Europe trip with you.  Just too many fun things happening around here. The weekend after we returned from Europe we hosted a wedding open house at our home for a young man that my husband has mentored for the last 15 years or so. James was married in Florida in April and [Continue Reading...]

The Wedding Carnival}The Bride and Groom

bride and groom 2

Note:  Portland area people. I am making a lot of our Carnival props available to rent so if you are in the Portland area and would like to have a carnival please contact me for pricing. Of all the Wedding Carnival posts I have done this one is the most important because it is about who the party was for – the Bride and Groom!  It was an evening to honor them and to celebrate the beginning of their life as a married couple.    It was such a fun celebration! The Wedding Carnival}Music, Dancing and a Flash Mob

Band 24/7

As I mentioned in my original Wedding Carnival post some of the best money we spent was to have live music at our Wedding Carnival.  We knew all along we wanted music but I had originally planned on having a DJ but one Saturday we were at the Farmer’s Market where they have live music each week and we were listening to a band we just loved. My husband surprised me by saying we should go ask them if they were available to play at our Wedding Carnival.  I thought [Continue Reading...]

The Wedding Carnival}Carnival Games

Carnival Games

One of my goals for the Wedding Carnival was to have people come and spend the evening with us.  Not just stop in, sign a book, shake hands, grab a quick bite to eat and leave.  I wanted them to enjoy a fun evening and celebration. In order to create this atmosphere we set aside part of the yard for Carnival Games. What would a carnival be without games!!  We used our play structure area for the games Using red and white curtain panels I found at Goodwill I created [Continue Reading...]

The Wedding Carnival}The Decorations

After coming up with the theme for our party – Wedding Carnival – my next decision was the color scheme.  Red and white were a natural choice for the wedding carnival decorations.  I also decided to add in teal and yellow.  The colors, like the event, needed to be fun! I also chose this swirly sucker as my carnival motif.  I used it in the invitation as well as the wedding carnival decorations for the evening. Here is a copy of the invite which was designed by my talented friend [Continue Reading...]

The Wedding Carnival}The Food Part Two

carnival food part two

You can view The Wedding Carnival}The Food Part One here. More carnival food! Of course a carnival has to have cotton candy so we had a cotton candy booth. We rented the cotton candy machine from Party Pros here in Portland and Jim built the cotton candy holders for me.  Jim also built all of the booths.  He built them around a table.  The booth is collapsible so we can store them.  We are also renting them out so if you are in the Portland area and thinking of having [Continue Reading...]

Wedding Carnival}The Food Part One

wedding carnival food part one

When I came up with the idea for a Wedding Carnival my main goal was for everyone to have FUN!  That meant the food had to be fun too. Really, what isn’t fun about carnival food??  It may not be the most health conscious food but it is fun and that was the theme of the evening so we went for it. My dear friend Patrice took charge of the food for me.  It was such a gift and blessing not to have to worry about it.  We got together [Continue Reading...]

The Wedding Carnival

wilkes carnival - 030

Today I am so excited to share with you photos from the Wedding Carnival! To be honest it was a very frustrating post to do because I have so many wonderful photos and I think I might blow up your computer if I tried to share them all in one post!!! So what I will be doing is sharing an overview of the entire carnival today in photos (and there is a lot of them) and over the next week I will break it down into sections (decorations, food, etc.) [Continue Reading...]

The Wedding

Clark & Jessica's Wedding Day

Today I am excited to share with you some photos from my son’s wedding in Arizona last weekend.  It was a beautiful and magical weekend and a hot one. I think the temperatures hit 115 degrees and as a result there weren’t many pictures taken outside! Clark and Jessica were married for time and all eternity in this beautiful and sacred building – the LDS Mesa Temple. Here are the bride and groom coming out of the temple! Mr. & Mrs. Wilkes!  Jessica made a gorgeous bride.  As pretty as [Continue Reading...]
