Baked Ziti with Spinach and Sausage

Baked Ziti with Spinach and Sausage

This recipe was originally published in November, 2009 and has been updated. Today’s recipe is always a family favorite.  I have taken this dish into lots of family’s when someone was sick or had a new baby and it is always a hit.  The recipe is always requested.  It is also a great dish to make for company or when you are feeding two hungry 19 year old boys. As part of the Mormon faith we have a missionary program.  Our young men and women give up 18 months to [Continue Reading…]

Italian Wedding Soup

Italian Weddng Soup

Over the holiday break we attended a wedding that had a soup and sandwich bar.  A fun idea.  There were several different selections of soup and I went for the Italian Wedding Soup – it was a wedding after all!  The mother of the bride had made all the soup herself!  I had never had Italian Wedding Soup before and it was delicious. This is a traditional Italian-American soup that contains green vegetables (in this case spinach) and some kind of meat (pork).  According to Wikipedia, “The term “wedding soup” [Continue Reading…]

Warm Strawberry Spinach Salad

So will you be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a fun family dinner or with a romantic dinner for two? Ours will be a romantic dinner for two – isn’t that what we have every night now that we are empty nesters!!??  My husband asked if I wanted him to plan the evening or if I wanted to give him input.  I told him he could plan but I reserved the right to give input if I wanted.  We’ll see.  He’s done pretty well the last few years. Artichoke Spinach Dip with Chopped Pecans

Artichoke Spinach Dip with Chopped Pecans

Artichoke Spinach Dip with Chopped Pecans is a delicious appetizer. The addition of pecans to a favorite appetizer adds flavor and texture. I love a good artichoke dip. I have shared a couple of yummy recipes here on the blog.  There was Artichoke and Spinach Dip and  Roasted Garlic and Artichoke Dip.  Both are so good.  Since I live by the philosophy that you can never have too many good recipes I have another variation on a theme for you today. The ladies in our neighborhood had a belated Mother’s [Continue Reading…]

Spinach Strawberry Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing and Sugared Nuts

Strawberry Spinach Salad

Today is one of those “I think everyone probably has it” recipes or at least some version of it.  There is probably a reason for that – because it is so good! I have been making this Spinach Strawberry Salad for years and  the recipe originally came from my friend Laurie.  She brought it to a potluck and I knew I had to have the recipe. I served it last Easter  and will be serving it again this year. I had it listed on my Easter menu a few years [Continue Reading…]

Penne with Spinach and Chicken Sausage

If you are a fan of my Facebook Page I’ve been keeping you posted on my latest organizing frenzy.  I attacked my office first and then it was onto my bedroom and closet.  I even gave away a couple of pair of black boots the other day so if you aren’t a fan of Your Homebased Mom on Facebook you might want to be.  You don’t even have to have a Facebook Account. I’m headed into my husband’s office, which now houses all my serving pieces.  Let’s just say with [Continue Reading…]

Strawberry Turkey Wrap and Sandwich Tips

On Monday I flew to cold, windy Chicago to visit the test kitchens of Sara Lee and Hillshire Farms. I was one of 15 bloggers that were invited back to learn more about their company. We talked about all kinds of things that bloggers love – food photography, food styling and about food – mainly sandwiches. Hillshire Farms makes a great line of lunch meats which we of course got to sample for lunch! We also got to meet Chef Jill – she is so fun! She is the one [Continue Reading…]

This Artichoke and Spinach Dip is always the first thing to disappear at the party and my favorite appetizer of all times! It is a close call but if I had to pick the most requested recipe from my Mummies Night Out I would have to say it is today’s recipe. I have a go to appetizer that I love.  It is a roasted garlic and artichoke dip that I have made for years.  Everyone loves it and it is always one of the first things to disappear. Last month [Continue Reading…]
