Today I’ve got a yummy recipe for my favorite vegetable. In fact, it is the ONLY vegetable I would eat as a child! Green Beans. Come over and visit me and check it out at I Heart Naptime.
I served this salad at the tea party bridal shower I recently hosted. It was a huge hit. I first has this salad about a year ago at a neighborhood pot luck and asked for the recipe right away. I never got around to making it. I wanted to add a salad into our tea party menu and I remembered how much I loved the salad and so did my party guests. That evening, after the shower, at our neighborhood party, the neighbor who had given me the recipe originally [Continue Reading...]
Because I am basically a non-potato eater, we eat a lot of rice at our house. In the last few years I have developed a love for brown rice. I love the nutty flavor, the crunchy texture and the fact that it is healthier for you than regular white rice. Brown rice also has a lower glycemic value which is a good thing. Brown rice is not processed as much therefore preserving more of the nutritional value. The only downside to brown rice is that it takes longer to cook [Continue Reading...]
I love a good artichoke dip. I have shared a couple of yummy recipes here on the blog. There was Artichoke and Spinach Dip and Roasted Garlic and Artichoke Dip. Both are so good. Since I live by the philosophy that you can never have too many good recipes I have another variation on a theme for you today. The ladies in our neighborhood had a belated Mother’s Day luncheon last week. We like to sit outside so we had to wait for a day when it wasn’t raining. That [Continue Reading...]
As promised, here is my second brown sugar recipe of the week. We attended our first holiday party last night (that wasn’t at our house) and I took one of my favorite holiday appetizers, Brown Sugar Brie. You could really make this appetizer anytime but I always seem to make it at the holidays. It is simple and delicious. The recipe was given to me years ago by an aesthetician I use to go to. It really is more a list of ingredients than a recipe. Sorry, but there are [Continue Reading...]
I think I’ve mentioned before that I tend to get on flavor kicks. There’s been cranberry, lemon etc. Well, this week it seems to be brown sugar. I’ve got two brown sugar recipes for you right in a row (another coming tomorrow) Yum! Today’s cookie recipe is a shortbread cookie but is different than a lot of shortbread – it is a nice soft cookie. I love shortbread, especially with a nice cup of herbal tea. It makes me feel so English! Some shortbread recipes tend to get a little [Continue Reading...]
On Monday I flew to cold, windy Chicago to visit the test kitchens of Sara Lee and Hillshire Farms. I was one of 15 bloggers that were invited back to learn more about their company. We talked about all kinds of things that bloggers love – food photography, food styling and about food – mainly sandwiches. Hillshire Farms makes a great line of lunch meats which we of course got to sample for lunch! We also got to meet Chef Jill – she is so fun! She is the one [Continue Reading...]
Today’s recipe is for my southern, biscuit loving friend Sherra. Don’t all good southern girls love biscuits? If you ever visit food blogs you may have discovered a weekly challenge that many of the food bloggers participate in – Tuesdays with Dorie. The group is, recipe by recipe, baking their way through Baking from my Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan. Each week a recipe is chosen and each food blogger puts their own spin on it and posts their version and photos on their food blog. I have enjoyed [Continue Reading...]
