Shepherd’s Night

Shepherd's Night

Another favorite Christmas tradition at our house is Shepherd’s Night.  We usually do this the Monday before Christmas. On Shepherd’s Night we eat “shepherd” like food, eat dinner under the stars (the Christmas tree lights) and think about what it must have been like for those shepherds on that very special night. Please excuse the poor photos but I took these under my  kitchen lights as we were getting ready to eat.  No staged food for you this time!  This is real life. Our meal consists of a variety of [Continue Reading...]

Tea Party Bridal Shower

tea party bridal shower

Last week I hosted a tea party bridal shower for Charlotte.  Charlotte is a friend of my daughter Tessa’s, I was her Young Women’s adviser in church and she was also on the same study abroad program  in London that Tessa was.  Since she had just returned from London I decided a tea party bridal shower would be very fitting. I had recently made this cute polka dot tablecloth following the directions over at Oh Happy Day and I had been looking for an excuse to use it.  I decided [Continue Reading...]

Favorite Things 60th Birthday Party

Vingelen Party

This last weekend we were invited to a Favorite Things 60th birthday party/retirement party for a dear friend.  We have been friends for over twenty years.  We met when she was Logan’s first grade teacher.  Every parent should be so blessed to have their child have such an amazing teacher.  We were twice blessed because she was also Clark’s first grade teacher.                   Then we moved and the girls didn’t have the opportunity but we have remained friends over the years and [Continue Reading...]

Fourth of July and Ice Cream Soda Bar

_dsc0842

I hope you all enjoyed a fun and safe Fourth of July. Our day started out with a 5K around a local neighborhood and then we helped cook sausage for a free pancake breakfast our church put on for the local neighborhood.  I think we fed about 300! I headed home and went to work in the kitchen fixing all kinds of yummy things for our neighborhood BBQ later in the day.  I”ll be sharing several of them over the next week. The afternoon started off with some water games [Continue Reading...]
