Fresh Fruit Flavored Milk

Fresh fruit flavored milkl

Today we have our third installment of Kids Can Cook!  I’ve got my little helper Addy in the kitchen with me this week. I asked Addy’s mom to get me a list of things she would like to learn how to make.  One of the things on her list was Strawberry Milk.   Not only did we make strawberry milk but we made banana and orange too! We started with strawberry milk since that is what Addy had requested.  The first thing we had to do was hull the strawberries. [Continue Reading...]

We’re having an unseasonably hot summer here in Portland.  We’ve had multiple days over 90 degrees – that just doesn’t happen that often.  I’m not complaining but as a result I’ve needed a lot of ice cream and frosty treats to keep cool. We’ve even had a few days in triple digits!  We had a couple of those days last week and wouldn’t you know it – my air conditioner wouldn’t work!  I was glad I had a batch of these orange creamsicles in the freezer to help me keep [Continue Reading...]

We’ve been enjoying some summer like days here in Portland and temperatures in the 70’s.  Yes, that is summer like weather here in the Northwest! I am so ready for these warm weather days to stay but I’m sure they won’t.  I do live in the Northwest afterall.  Those warm weather days always make me feel so much better and like celebrating.  But even when the sun isn’t shining outside I love to bring that spring like mood into the house and celebrate anyway! Because, after all, life is too [Continue Reading...]

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone it is time to get serious about Christmas.  I got a big chunk of my shopping done on CyperMonday!  How about you? One of my favorite holiday activities is our Annual Cookie Baking Day.  I spend a lot of time coming up with just the right menu of cookies.  Being sure flavors are balanced – can’t have all chocolate cookies.  There is always a list of our favorites like Lemon Drops and Snowballs. Each year I always add a few new recipes to [Continue Reading...]

Quick and Easy Orange Rolls

Orange Rolls

My mother makes amazing orange rolls. They are required at every Easter and Christmas dinner. They are a lovely yeast roll. The downside to that is they take a bit of time to prepare, allowing for all that rising time etc. And then there are those who are afraid of yeast. Well, I’ve got a great alternative for you yeast fearing, not enough time in my day people! Last week I spent three lovely, sunny and warm days in Central Oregon with some girlfriends. Upon our arrival my friend Jane [Continue Reading...]

Orange Creamsicle Cupcakes

Sail Away Graduation Party

One of the new recipes I tried for the Sail Away party was Orange Creamsicle Cupcakes.  I am a total sucker for anything with the word creamsicle in the title! I picked a fun new cupcake magazine at the grocery store and there are so many I want to try but I knew as soon as I saw it that the Orange Creamsicle would be the first. The frosting on these cupcakes is over the top yummy!  It is an orange cream cheese, so good. The recipe uses orange gelatin [Continue Reading...]

Orange Creamsicle Muffins}Muffin Monday

So you may remember my slight obsession with orange creamsicle flavor.  You can find it here with my orange creamsicle scones, Orange creamsicle cookies, orange rolls and my favorite orange cake. I decided that the list wouldn’t be complete without an orange creamsicle muffin. I played around with my basic muffin recipe a bit and came up with what I think is a pretty amazing orange creamsicle version.  I usually limit myself to one muffin on Muffin Monday but these were so good I ate two (O.K., it was really [Continue Reading...]
