Popeye & Olive Oyl

Popeye and Olive Oyl

I Yam what I Yam! One of the positive things about being an empty nester is that I now have time to put together Halloween costumes for Jim and I.  Dressing up for Halloween has become a fun tradition for us the last three years. We never dressed up when the kids were home but now that I don’t have to make and put together costumes for four kids I can do it for us! I think half the fun for me is deciding what famous couple we are going [Continue Reading...]

Halloweenie Roast 2013

Halloweenie Roast 2013

Last night was our annual Halloweenie Roast. It is a fun Halloween party we host for our neighbors each year. We build a fire in the back yard and roast hot dogs and have all kinds of other fun treats. Everyone brings something to share which is always fun. This year I used this print from Caravan Shoppe as the backdrop for my table. I had it printed at Staples as an Blueprint so it was pretty inexpensive, about $6.00 or so I think.  I just glued a yardstick at [Continue Reading...]

Witch’s Cauldron Sundae

Chocolate Witchs Cauldron

I love Halloween.  I think I actually enjoy it more now than I did when my children were younger.  It seemed like when they were younger all the time and energy I had to devote to Halloween went towards making and putting together Halloween costumes for my children.  Yes, I was one of those mother’s that always made their children’s costumes.  No store bought costumes here.  I was usually the room mom so all my party planning energy went towards that. Now that I don’t have to make costumes for [Continue Reading...]

Halloween Hot Chocolate

Halloween Hot Chocolate

I think fall may be over here in the NW and we’ve gone right into winter. My husband joked that he needed to go out and build an ark in our backyard which is very quickly turning into a lake due to all the rain we have had this week – 4 inches in 2 days. On a cold, blustery winter like day nothing is better than a cup of hot chocolate. We aren’t coffee drinkers at our house but we are big hot chocolate drinkers. I am also a [Continue Reading...]

So we’ve been having just a little too much fun at our house with googly eyes! After making a batch of my own edible googly eyes I decided to create some fun googly eye donut creatures thanks to some inspiration from Matthew Mead. You can turn just about anything into a fun googly eye creature!  I decided to go with donuts. First we went for some googly eye donut monsters! I picked up some chocolate cake donuts at Krispy Kreme (only place I could find them!)  Using some of the [Continue Reading...]

White Chocolate Candy Corn Popcorn

white chocolate popcorn

This recipe for White Chocolate Candy Corn Popcorn is one that I posted on the blog several years go.  Somehow it disappeared.  I’ve had that happen with a couple of recipes and not sure why but this is too good to lose. I have a Christmas version of this popcorn here. The recipe starts with 2 packages of microwave popcorn.  You can totally use airpopped or stove popped popcorn as well.  I love the added salt and buttery taste the microwave popcorn adds over plain airpopped corn. I used Wilton [Continue Reading...]
